Today a customer complained about the LS being too loud. It was run from the panel outputs and the volume adjusted from the eng menu 2.A rough adjustment at the best of times. However when the final exit is opened the tones get too loud and the neighbours complained. I arrived and as i knew the speaker was at lowest level i suggested to boss a diff speaker, but he wasnt too happy about that. So idea 2 was to run speaker output from RKP ( with spare core from 6 core to RKP) and use the volume pot from the RKP to lower the volume. This worked a treat, the customer loved me ( wish she did in real life she is a Brazilian model) And the point of this you ask, well Menvier d…

Hi I am after converting onto the Galaxy 2-20 panel and fitting of G2 44+ Portal. I would like some advice from anyone that fits this type. The info on the Galaxy site is lacking. 1. Does the RF Portal operate on Narrow Band ? 2. What pir's can be used? 3. What about wirefree door contacts? 4. What about range? Battery life I plan to wire in a MK7 keypad as I think this would be better for my jobs. Sorry for so many questions, but it's either the G2 or Scantronic Homelink 55 narrow band gear Thanks

OK guys I have no choice but I have got to use a Radio Alarm panel on a job I have just looked at. The house is a re-furbished farm house on three levels and is immacualted decorated. Question is which system is the dogs whatsits for signal strength and do they do signal strength meters like years ago? Would normally walk away but this is for a good client of ours. Could do more harm than good though if it all goes wrong Thanks for your help guys. Dave

This is probably one for the Initial lads (if there are any of you left on here?) but how does everyone test the signalling on this bloody thing? It's not a problem if there is a PA on site, but I would like to send a full set of signals (1,2,3,4 + 7) There does'nt appear to be any way of doing this in any of the menus, and emptying the building for a full set and trigger is absolutely not an option. In fact, triggering the system for longer than a few seconds for a quick bell test is not an option either on alot of sites with these panels installed. Any tips, or am I missing something that's right under my nose?

Afternoon, I need some further info the the following setup (I know nothing about 3GS but have one in my area which I wanted to know more about): It's a 3GS controlled via a computer with graphic overlays. I have been told that all control of the panel is done via DOS including entering engineering (in fact you can't control it at all from the keypad) and was originally installed by Protection One. I'm interested in knowing if this is a standard setup for large 3GS sites, which software is likely to be used and is there a manual with the DOS commands and descriptions etc Thanks in advance, Ronnie

Hi Lets say I fit a Scanny 9651, which has only 4 zones, is it allowed and within regs to use the remaining 4 zones and prog the up as tamper so that I can split the tamper zones up into the other 4 zones. This saves putting them into global. ? I have always done this but was told it did not meet regs, as zones are + applied, and tamper loops are -. could be the other way round but you get the jist

Hello all, I am always getting asked about wire free, I normally talk them out of this option. However I am going to now offer them the option of wire free. Problem is what to fit, Texecom do a nice range to go with the premier panel which I know well, the issue with this is the range is new to texecom, and the range is 100m low power. Scantronic do the homelink 10mw range which has a larger 1000M range, and 10 times the tx power of texecom, meaning less problems. Does anyone have any recommendations,? I will honestly take your advice. Think carfully and be honest, as your inputs will be changing the face of how I install in the future. Thanks in advance

At the moment I use Veritas Excel, and the 9651 for small domestics and commercials. I am considering maybe changing to use just the 9651 for all small jobs, as it is far cheaper than the excel. Does anyone know if the new galaxy 20 panel is in the price range of the other 2 panels, and wether it is any good? I do like menvier but they are expensive, gardtec are a heap of carp, so does anyone have any better panels which I may consider?

Hi Does anyone have any reviews / info on the scantronic 10mw range, I haved used scanny radio systems before, but range has always been an issue, now they have 10mw I think range may be no longer a problem. What about costs??? Is radio too expensive on the normal quote?? I would like to quote them more often but don't want to be priced out of the market Any advice gratefully rec as always
