the excel is the same as the r8+, the outputs on the panel cant be changed they are preset as 1-fire,2-pa,3-intruder.

if you wire these into the inputs 1,2 and 3 on the dialler and record message 1 fire, message 2 pa and message 3 intruder.

Breff, I tried your suggestion and it worked first time. On top of that, I did a factory reset and programmed the system again to ensure all was set correctly. It appears to have done the trick the bells sound when they should and the text and voice messages correspond to the correct alarm mode.
