james.wilson replied to Jwiggand's topic in Control Panels (Public)
I see why people specify stuff, Bosch not so much but its still specified, Its a brand name and doesnt matter how other stuff performs cos ive heard of x y. Ive worked with it and feel it looses out to most other main stream stuff. You should show them them difference -

As above its open ended I don't like the pyronix but from the above comments looks like they finally have a working product. However I rated the mag ultra as a decent dudget sensor. Sterling 10 was a bit hit though -

Nothing but hkc here. Wouldn't go anywhere near ajax unless I fitted ring door bells -
Lol agree on the white space bit. I'm also into home assistant. Cant see a better project or solution yet. Yes it's early days but it's infinitly configurable. Just need to add my preferred gear to it, galaxy guy is way ahead though and those that are that ecosystem should play with the virtual rios

Bit concerning it was that easy to get the codes and default it though?

I'm glad we are getting automation questions the alarm should be be presence detector in most setups
-
Yes and the concern is if a panel can be easily undone it's going to be. We need to accept its good that a panel can't easily be defeated. There will be a test case at some point. I feel it's best that no controls can be reset. Let's leave that to verisure and the DIY market. Professional Security devices should be secure.

A digi is unlikely to work, very unlikely to be reliable. A dialer unlikely to be reliable. Main question why are you considering something that isn't 100% reliable for your security, or is 95%good enough? Also these things need power, firmware upgrades etc. If the perp turns the mains off then it will be 0% reliable

Replacing Bell Box on Honeywell Galaxy 2
james.wilson replied to Whiteside46's topic in !!..DIY Installers..!!
If your getting 12v on your meter between bell trig and 0v the panel isn't driving the bell. Touching the bell trig to 0v in the panel proves this. -

I'd continue though as what you have inherited is decent. It's a prosumer type system and there is plenty that can work on it. Have you not got any codes from the previous?
-
Also remember that it's the installation and his skills etc and support for 12 months I'd also say it's more like a day than half a day too

Are you arming all groups? Check it's all just group a1 maybe But to make things easier I'd do a topic per issue rather than a list in 1 topic

When was it last serviced? A power fail shouldn't cause any issues the fact it has points to a problem imo
