  1. What really pisses me off is when they put bells above ground floor bay window roof, especially when they had the pick of the whole front and it would have looked BETTER elsewhere
  2. Confused at speaker/sounder confusion You have been sent an Eaton wireless speaker by the looks of it - if you paid a tenner for a wired speaker, ebay calling, £ching!
  3. I very much dou... oh yes I suppose I do! And hopefully with sod all competition given they are not only skip tat, but badly described skip tat!
  4. Agreed I was only joking - I'll just persuade them to buy any half decent machine with W10 already on.
  5. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/283743774783?ul_noapp=true TS700 BNIB Kit, so old it's got Clevedon addresses. I've seen a few of these, so either someones got a time machine and can't think of anything lucrative or creative to do with it, or ADI head office are having a clearout!
  6. Dad had an email from a friend of his asking if I knew anything about how they can 'install Norton antivirus or something' to make up for the end of support on Windows 7, which I guess must have popped up on the screen. I guess like so many people they just don't get it. So I can see my next visit to see him will be interrupted by a 4 hour diversion to attempt to install Windows 10 on some crappy Celeron PC.
  7. In the alarm world maybe but SMT has been around for yonks, esp. computers, it was mainly used when it was needed for compactness but also reliability esp. against vibration
  8. For me the AJ900 is unreadable, but I guess that's what you get with historic archive documents OP can you take a better picture?
  9. Opening it up will be a good clue!
  10. They could have simply incorporated a FD in the casing though?
  11. We have that now using Nest, Fibaro, and IFFT, bit of a kludge but it works and is a one way path, there is no interaction with the alarm other than Norm style physical 'alarm is set' relay telling Fibaro home centre. I'm not big on the blinds thing but for the main lounge (which also will suffer from too much sunlight in the summer anyway) I will have auto curtains on the french windows and auto roller blind the opposite end where the sun is worst.
  12. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Vonets-wireless-Bridge-Booster-VAP11N-300/dp/B07K6LQSVK/ref=sr_1_8?keywords=vonets&qid=1578852156&s=computers&sr=1-8 Look familiar What's interesting is that TBF when you buy the Eaton version, you do get a nicely made 5V converter, that feels quality. But the specs INSIST it can take up to 15V DC anyway.... I've not had the guts to try myself, and use a 12V > 5V converter myself every time.
  13. I am not too happy with the 1-way situation, however, I do mitigate it by keeping my use down to 'additonal' type detection such as wireless vibes on windows and the odd 'extra' door contact
  14. Given your existing panel, I would recommend the 40H too, although I am obvioiusly slightly biased! You can retain the non-EOL CC+T 4 wire config on the 40H by adding a plug in circuit board, if you need any more than 10 zones, you can add an expander, these support 4 wire natively (as well as EOL). There are many here though, myself included, to a point, that would never use the wireless capability of the ion though as it is 1 way only at this time. The app for the ion is free with no connection or sub charges, which is nice, and it's a really easy to use & install panel.
  15. How do you mean? I know years ago they took over Xanex or whatever they were called who had a slightly enhanced proprietry version of X10, but that product line I assume is well dead and buried.
  16. Like it or not it sounds as if E aton have something brewing with HA integration, above and beyond the usual '3rd parties please write to us if you want to integrate' type position.
  17. Yeah I agree in any case you're much better off with manf's own IP (or something SIA based like WW) to read off actual data rather than a limited set of sensor states. The best thing about apps is the ability to see, 'oh yeah, two zones were tripped, then the alarm went off for a couple of minutes, but then the system was unset and reset by user 2' And the whole remote control thing which you don't get with such add-ons. Wired off same 12V as alarm would be fine for BBU, as for EOL, it would only have to sense changes down a single high res. sensing wire on the non-ground leg of a circuit so could co-exist, though obv's that might be slightly panel dependent. True but if it really is only $90 (as opposed to euros) then probably not worth the hastle. But going back to point 1, still not something I'd bother with. If I had to upgrade a 9751 it'd be almost an easier job to change for a panel with a native app (e.g. a 40H) than bodge about, with the benefits of the new panel too like RF capability and a much clearer keypad and user menus.
  18. It's only January, but I'm gunning to win Most Unhelpful Reply Of The Year... Here it comes... @Killian... (but also summoning THE WRONG @Galaxy Guy just to be unhelpful!)
  19. Maverick hasn't logged in for nearly 9 months, it's unlikely they will do so again just to check a 12 year old thread. I will move this to a new topic. It might be more useful to describe the problems you're having to the people that DO log in, like top poster Mr H...
