  1. HD is the name generally used for 720p, 1080p and also 1440p but could be used for anything >480p UHD is the name currently used for video better than HD, most common is 2160p referred to as 4K
  2. H264 is just video compression it has nothing to do with HD or not.
  3. Something like the SPSDD21
  4. It appears there are 1080p cameras available in CVI. I was informed CVI in it's design couldn't do more than 720p and was lossy, maybe this has changed. Still it's proprietary so your stuck with Dahua if you go that way. All the CCTV manufacturers claim there protocol is better, they all have pros and cons, (cost / transmission length / picture quality).
  5. It will depend on the DVR. From memory the Vectus will do D1/AHD/SDI on any channel.
  6. I would disagree, I would avoid CVI and use either TVI or SDI. I prefer SDI myself. Never had any issues with SDI on good coax, can have issues on CCA tho. Yes as my post above regarding quality, but it will depend on the camera. They only work with there compatible equipment, some can do multiple formats.
  7. I rate the Vectus G TBH, the new model is hybrid so you can replace the DVR now and then replace each camera as required later. As for the differences between HD over Coax:- HD-SDI is digital, others (AHD/CVI/TVI) are analogue. Only HD-TVI can offer up to 1080p of the analogue options. However, SDI being digital has a lower transmission distance compared to TVI. CVI is proprietary so I wouldn't recommend.
  8. Do you not have a log burner or pizza oven you can dispose of them a drawer at a time? Also remind me not to come round when you have your "bomb fire", Lol. As to where the shredding companies get rid, I imagine you buy your waste back in the morning when you get your paper.
  9. If you have a Texecom bell press Omit in the bell test menu.
  10. You are going to need to know:- What the alarm system is and if there is an output available for that. What the lighting is, how it is wired and how much load the lighting is. A simple mains relay may fail switching heavy loads.
  11. Jumpers in the PIR's to set the resistors
  12. Random Attribute is the easiest way as explained above. Set Random System Timers to 1 sec and 2 sec then add the random attribute to your intruder.
  13. "Texecom Premier Elite" doesn't give a lot to go on, there are may different models. Is it wired, wireless or hybrid? Why was the system left half finished? Have you tried getting quotes from local installers that support Texecom?
  14. Issue with shocks is they can be triggered from outside the premises, so therefore cause false alarms. Issue with cats is they jump on furniture and false activate many "pet friendly" PIR's.
  15. Only TS700 keypads will work on a 700, they are getting rare. You could change your code if you want a bit more life out of it. Probably recommend a Prem if your looking to upgrade. Easy, if you know what you are doing?
  16. You can program it however you like if you know how. It's there a sensor to start the timer on the ground floor? Have you considered a part arm bell delay or an extra keypad in a better location?
  17. Yep I recall FSL as a Scantronic thing. There is only ever one EOL resistor anyway. When you think about it, DEOL and TEOL seems odd/inaccurate terminology.
  18. Different terminologies for different manufacturers.
  19. Maybe there was a problem with the wiring causing the original issue?
  20. 10Kg worth of hand tools plus bits and bobs in an old drill style toolbox and small length standard CK side cutters. I live in the north too, if that matters... Soft storage is not for me, I would replace mine for a similar sized toolbox if it broke.
  21. If the DSL is not filtered at the master socket it will be running around your house and picking up interference. Some of this comes from the ringer circuit. Also you want to filter the DSL as close to the exchange as possible to get the fastest speed. Another point to note is if you do use microfilters you may want to swap them out, the components in cheap ASDL filters may not be rated for the higher frequency of VDSL.
  22. The reasoning behind the Mk3 is to remove the interference from the ringer circuit that happens after the master socket. May find that other FTTC providers have been switching over without getting Openreach in, so BT are doing the same. I don't see why they don't supply you with a plug in master socket adapter plate filter as standard instead of the microfilters. Come to think about it they make money selling them at the BT shop.
  23. Swap Shop is Trade Only http://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/forum-trade-access.html
  24. Maybe an admin **** up? HH5 can do ADSL and VDSL automatically You maybe right, I suppose for most people they will see an improved in speed without coming to site. I can't say I have seen Infinity without a MK3 etc round here.
