  1. Have you reset the system? It's possible the battery charging circuit is faulty or has a blown fuse.
  2. The negative posts are obviously from individual experience. To each there own, not one panel will suit all installers for one reason or another. Some of the positives you mention are negatives for others.
  3. Your looking at kit that the installers you have quotes from may have never fitted. If you are really unsure from what we have said so far, the only other things I can think of is:- Mesh, Texecom is Mesh based this maybe a good thing or it maybe a not so good thing. Generally you need more devices to increase signal security, with the idea that devices talk to each other not just to the controls. In a normal house the mesh will make little difference either should work fine. Range of devices, I know that Texecom has a large range of kit from Outdoor PIR's, DT's, Smokes, PA's .... As for others I don't know them well enough to comment on there range of kit.
  4. The usual advice is get at least three quotes from approved companies. Choose the one you feel comfortable with and suits your needs, not necessarily the cheapest. Have you also compared warranty periods, maintenance procedures and service costs?
  5. I would think less about the kit and more about the installer. I would go Texecom but only because that is preferred kit that I know very well. Different installers will use different kit that suits there company and they are trained and experienced on.
  6. Assuming they're wired devices, it still sounds like a programming issue. It should work OTB, maybe if you can't find the attribute that's been changed start a fresh. I would also start to consider if the detectors are in the best location.
  7. Something is programmed incorrectly. This shouldn't happen. Call a local installer?
  8. You can't that would defeat the object of the alarm.
  9. Time to start selling iD biscuits for £50 each then.
  10. Yeah there's Lead Carbon, Sealed Gel but also LiFePo batteries are getting popular for mobility stuff and available in 7Ah I believe. But again is it worth the cost, really the system needs checking yearly anyway.
  11. Lol, bit tricky to get the right voltage. You can get other types like gel and lithium but are they really worth the extra?
  12. Removing the hold-off for a minute or so is enough to check the battery. If the sound dips or has a low output it's likely it's near to failure. They are Nicd so last longer than the lead acid type batteries in the panel. Depending on the box you can't disable the sounder triggering. It will have at least one fixing screw you can't have something like that in the elements only clip on.

  15. CIE Fault is basically the control panel "crashing" and will require a power cycle to clear normally. You will also notice the time resets as well. With faults like this it is best to isolate one thing at a time to diagnose the issue. Personally I would start by ruling out if it is the comms that is causing the issue in the first place. FWIW all the CIE faults I have had in the past have been mains related, mains spikes, prepay meters/MCBs tripping out, noisy equipment on same CU. Does the timing of the issue relate to any changes or new equipment?

  20. Yes, if you know how to wire them correctly and you don't overload the panel, as I explained in post 2
  21. Two live boxes could have been too much current and blown something. Most panels need additional PSU's or SCB mode for multiple sounders.
