Strange beeping !!!
We get so many of these and always the op is convinced that its the alarm, I remember as an engineer telling a customer over the phone it was a low battery on their smoke, they insisted I come out. £70.00 plus VAT (it was the early 90's) callout later, I found an old smoke detector in a kitchen drawer with the battery still in it. Its like we tell them what it is and the dont believe us

No it doesn't need any more wires adding the sounder should self activate when you take the lid off Wires dont remove themselves, I cant think why you would think they do ?

No it doesnt look like it, whoever installed it linked out the tamper- Strange beeping !!!
Check your drawers for an old smoke detector- Strange beeping !!!
qfa- Accenta/Optima G4 Range discontinued?
Nobody else was- Alx
That's what I said, is there no manual in the downloads ? Pff! Grandad yourself, you're not far behind me you know! James knows Im only bantering- Alx
Oh and Map 6 as the name suggests is limited to 6 fecking detectors, that's four fecking less than ten!- Alx
Define "a bit like"? My definition would not be "its the same as". My definition would be "it is a similar idea" Both systems use id chip of one form or another on one fecking circuit! Yes that's where the similarities end but you cannot deny that they are similar. Its not a pair of cables per zone is it? And the Map 6 we have is on a big house and its on old alarm cable, but not a small circuit by any means- Alx

I have a site with one, he has a proper alarm as well, but uses the map 6 to check if doors are open before setting, the leds are active wether its armed or not. I would say its 40 years old rather than 30, late 70's early 80s.- Alx
HKC still have ID- Alx
The map six is wired in series with what look like diodes across each circuit. The diodes are all numbered and when the circuit is open it changes the current flow on that circuit so the panel knows which circuit is open. A very clever design, bit like how ID systems work nowadays.- Scantronix 9100 (fitted 1989) - viper problem
When was the battery replaced last? There is no EOL resistors on this panel its double pole, tamper and circuit. I would start off metering the cables wired to Z3 removed from the PCB if they are closed circuit then fit a link in Z3 and see if the fault is still there, it could be a fooked panel especially if the battery hasnt been touched since 2014- 1 forward 2 back
Lots of crap I agree its almost what I would call you get what you pay for. Not in my experience, cameras that know the difference between a human and an animal or vehicle, face recognition, face detection, line crossing detection, intrusion boxes, work very well- Problems with ade accenta 8 alarm panel.
Panic button pressed somewhere?- 1 forward 2 back
I have to disagree re CCTV too. I remember when CCTV could only tell you what happened, nowadays AI CCTV tells you its happening. Plus picture quality FPS and everything else is better than it was last week let alone last year, or ten years ago.- ADT sues Amazon's Ring over use of blue octagon logo
Unless your over 50 and dont understand tech, why wouldnt you use this shite, some of it works really well "Alexa, turn on the TV" Strangely I spotted one of these Ring bell boxes while walking the dog this morning. Its only about ten doors down from me, it looked quite good.- 1 forward 2 back
Hi and welcome, I have seen plenty of changes in the last 35 years, you dont have to que up at the local Police station to put something on test anymore is a biggy, I used to hate that. Mind you you dont even have to call the ARC to put it on test you can do it by app.- ADT sues Amazon's Ring over use of blue octagon logo
Its not a security device its a door bell that allows you to answer the door when your out, sometimes .... rarely....never. If it worked like the advert would have you believe I would have one. Ive tried Ring (crap) Hikvision (crap) Dahua (crap) Nest (crap) and Chinese cheapo worked better than the others but it was only 700tvl and after a couple of years died, and the later 2mp replacement was crap. I have the Dahua video entry system now (crap) its hard wired to the Lan it still doesnt call me when my phone is on the same fooking network Ring doesn't work if its stolen you can default it but the mac is registered to you, it cannot be registered to anyone else unless you release it. Hik, and Dahua, can be defaulted via Hik and Dahua I am not sure if you can report it stolen like you can the Ring. I made full use of the ring no quibble money back gtee which is easy, the only nice thing I have to say about the product- ADT sues Amazon's Ring over use of blue octagon logo
In theory ring and all the other doorbells connected to the internet are a great idea. If only someone could make one that works 100% of the time- Sl Compact Alrm User Manual
Its in the thread, but if it dont work it needs servicing https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=1741- Disabling my alarm -help.
Theres a blast from the past, my favorite is the smokin floorboards, the stuff you could get away with before H&S started locking the cupboard under the sink- Disabling my alarm -help.
You have, just because they are not wanted to hear doesn't mean they're are wrong. We make nothing out of helping people here but we are limited on the help we can give. Most of us have busy and profitable businesses, an ex ADT customer makes no odds to us if we could have helped you without breaking any rules we would have figure of speech I dont care if your offended its only words - Strange beeping !!!
