i will i have an nvq3 but certainly didnt get an a level

I have been told that everyone who wants to work as a security service engineer will have to have a NVQ level 3 if they want to work as a service engineer. I have been told this comes into play in about 6 years time. I have got a city & guilds knowledge of security and emergency alarm systems. Does anyone know if this is true and I will have to get a NVQ ?

When I did my CG1851 they did the NVQ level 2 and 3 along side.

The NVQ was just the work based training and coursework no exam IIRC.

Many seem to employ monkeys so I wouldn't worry about it.

I think the manufacturers are aiming there kit at monkey level now too, means they get less support calls.

I was under the (maybe wrong) impression NVQ's were foolproof, literally.

Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

So was I but still had 4 lads in my group fail at least twice.

NVQ to be honest learnt a lot of theory, but does not help you in the field, you can be amazing on paper and have quals doesent mean u know how to use a drill !

I've been rumbled :)

Have to agree tho the NVQ didn't really teach anything I wasn't told onsite hands on.

^^ and that, is life in a nutshell ^^
