Funny enough there is street after street, in WsM where you don't even see a bell box. True its perhaps because the inhabitants are over 80 and there is, literally, nothing worth nicking, its the same in Shepton Mallet where my parents live, the entire estate has the telltale 'wired for an alarm' 99p Gewiss junction box outside and blank plate by the front porch lightswitch, all without alarms unless they were put in as part of a showhome. (Admittedly in most of these 'prewires' the builder has chosen where the Chinese 3 strand wires go and chosen badly!).

 

No doubt low crime (or percieved low crime) does have a part to play, but WsM supports a couple of fairly large firms, so I don't think I'm on a complete loser here. From what I've heard, a lot of the service has a lot to be desired from the other crowd, so I'll stick at it for now at least!
