Hi folks... just joined the forum so thought id say hi. Im an alarm engineer to trade but I've been away from this line of work for about 14 years though still do the odd job here and there to keep my hand in. Technology has certainly moved on quite a bit in the last few years so will be handy having somewhere to go for advice Brian

Hi, thank you for allowing me to join the forum, we are NICEIC Approved Electrical contractors domestic, commercial & industrial and whilst we are not a massive intruder alarm installers at the moment (around 60+ a year) we have taken the decision to expand on this side of our business, it’s mainly the domestic market that we are interested in, when we’ve grown this side of the business we’ll look at taking someone on to manage that part of the business, our existing reputation is on service and quality workmanship and hopefully this will help in our plans, we strongly believe that every day is a school day and we’re always looking to take onboard advice.

Hey guys: Not an introduction but a sort of re-introduction, originally joined the fire and security installer forum bàck in 2008 & was on there for many years. Unfortunately had to give up the trade due to health problems but I'm hoping that after doing a lot of catching up that I can get back into it, even if it has to be part time to start with. Really glad to see the forum is still going, even if it is in a slightly different format. May need to ask some questions about the newer systems and regs, if they seem a bit bone be gentle. Andy

Hi all, Just in from a slightly feisty neighbourhood watch meeting.....& with some ideas, I thought I would sign up here in case there are any pointers for me! My simple thinking is that if someone is casing a joint, anything that disturbs them or makes them feel they are being watched would help to put them off. External security lamps are obvious, but perhaps ignored.... So. I think a great idea would be for external PIRs to integrate with socket-based lamps in selected rooms to switch lights on for a pre-set 5-10 minutes. The lamps could be in rooms NOT slept in - so a lamp in a spare room comes on when a PIR is triggered. Mayb…

I am a new installer for ADT in the US. Do any of you know of any US based ADT Installer Forums? Will this forum help me with installation tips and tricks along with troubleshooting the ADT systems used in the US? Not sure of the differences in ADT systems installed in this forum versus the systems installed in the US. Thanks in advance for your help.
