Hi Just wanted to introduce myself to this forum. Fire alarm engineer & electrician by trade and run my own fire company in the East Midlands. Spend a load of time on the fire engineers forum, I guess they'll be some of you here too, but I've been dragged kicking 'n' screaming into intruder by my client base! Done a fair few basic systems over the years (Veritas R8's etc) having been an electrician since the 16th edition days (I feel so old!!!) but looking to go a lot deeper into it now. Here to pick up bits of wisdom and contribute where poss. Cheers Steve

Hi! I'm an approved sparky working on a remote island off Scotland. I mostly do repair and maintenance, but I've installed a lot of PAC systems. I dislike trying to fix the Honeywell stuff, and I'm currently trying to get my head around autodiallers. I'm very keen to learn more, although my opportunities for training are few and far between (given that I'm so remote), I'd be very interested in any online resources for training. Nice to meet you all!

Just a quick intro, I was a member of TSI for a number of years only let my login lapse etc so here under fresh start. Been in the industry 13 year now, coming from consumer electronics background i started out predominantly intruder. Through a number of positions at various companies across greater Manchester I've become an all rounder, fire, intruder, access, CCTV, some some gate automation, hold an auto door technician card via the ADSA etc. Hopefully be nice to get active on here again along with the similar groups on Facebook. So that's about it for now!

I've got a chubb alarm from the early 80s and it uses negative hold off but I want to connect it to a panel that uses positive hold off. How can I do this?

  9. Started by Gareth79,

Hello, I've just started out for a company fitting outdoor CCTV/PIR systems, I've previously been installing and maintaining traffic signals for last 10 years so go easy on the tech talk and abbreviations lol, it's a small company I work for so just wanted somewhere else to come to cross reference any issues I may come across, only thing I've had issues with so far is false alarms on PIR's so I'll go scroll through this site and see what's the crack , any links much appreciated , tia

Just a quick one to say hi. Hoping this forum can help me.

  14. Started by lloydh,

Lurked for a while on this site, thought I should actually post. 7 years of doing alarm work after getting fed up working on cars. Mainly do fire alarms (Mostly Kentec and ADT) and door access (Salto and Entro) and a bit of Intruder. Worked for one of the larger firms on Guernsey for 5 years then left to work for a small firm leading a team of three. That's about as exiting as it gets. will be after info on Menvier intruder alarms as we have taken over a few sites with them and I'm not as familiar with them as I am with Galaxy.
