I think the best thing i've found on a job was in the attic of an old library. Installing void detection and went through a crawling gap in the eaves to the next roof and found a couple of newspapers from the 50's, couple of old tins of pop and some fag packs and matches. Had a flick through the pristine papers and took them down for the mini museum they had.

Was pretty funny to think that the only thing changes is technology. People will still bunk off for 5 minutes and have a snooze.

We did an alarm in a shop that had been a jewellers in the 1970s and then an estate agents ever since. Unbelievably, the stairs to the 2nd and 3rd floors were lightly boarded up and had never been visited in years! Sadly nothing of value but a nearly fully kitted 1960s workshop complete with Bakelite Lucas batteries to run some sort of electric brazing iron and a retro stock room with period packaging etc... Sadly before the days of camera phones.

So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands

injunction ?

But not true of course :D

Chris Tarrent ran a show a while back, invited listeners to share their finds after moving into a house, one said she opened the under stairs cupboard to find a URN complete with ashes.

he remarks "she could have made an absolute fortune selling it as 'ready break' to the cannibals".

If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!

  • 3 years later...

A little bit off topic but I once came across a dead cat in a box in a loft which looked like it had been there for a couple of years, I just protended I hadn't seen it and didn't ask any questions. People are strange!

Surely not a 'real' cat, must have been stuffed or whatever, 'cos the flies would have been unreal else.

Only have flies etc when there's 'juice' around...

Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
