Hi,

I'm at home and my scantronics 9200 is going off every 30 minutes. It's not really going off off. It's crackling through the internal alarm sound system and its beeping a few times. Then stops.

Any ideas what is wrong with it? If I were to unplug the mains fuse to the alarm would it just go off using the battery.

Help, can't sleep, but also can't do anything without landlord permission and they can't be contacted until tomorrow.

If you came here looking for advice from experts, I think you may be disappointed. Especially when you get smart comments from Mr Blobby above ..

Paul the panel has failed, it cira 30 yrs old

If it had been serviced properly it may have lived longer....

However I suspect its probably never got used, as the keypad would have probably given out some yrs ago.

Alarms is very odd trade, people are happy to rip out 30yr old block paving but amazed I can't get them a keypad for 30 yrs old alarm...

Yeah I dont know anyone with a 30 year old TV or a 5 year old mobile phone, yet people moan when their alarm is obsolete after 15 years

Glad you back Paul, really did miss you ;)

Maybe the problem is your smoke alarms going off.. very common you know haha..

Happened many times, I'm more than happy to send a man & an invoice...  but I've always asked people to be certain the beep is coming from the alarm & not smoke alarm.

Personally I've had been told there's no smoke alarms in the house only to attend & find a pair still in the packet from B&Q which have being waiting a couple of years for the home owner to fit

Found a "Free" British Gas Co3 alarm in roll top desk,  beeping with low battery,

I also get lots of OAP's complaining about the "Free" battery powered smokes beeping (fitted by the fire brigade)

Mr Blobby can do it for about 4 grand

Couple of hundred quid to renew a basic house alarm on the old cables

Smoke alarms have a recommend life of 10 yrs, to replace a pair of mains powered smokes cira £100 as booked work

Fireangel have had a massive amount of battery failures within a couple of years from there 10 year ones.

Fire brigade stopped fitting them for a while as one caught fire in Hull somewhere I believe?

Replaced a good few with Aico 10 year ones for people.

LOL, I had the exact same job last year, householder to be fair was happy on phone it probably wasn't our alarm but wanted me to attend anyway as it needed to be found, it was exactly that

even though we'd fitted an RF Aico CO so it wasn't even needed.

So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands
