  1. i dont, without knowing the cause just slowing down the sensor is hiding the issue and making for a potential no detection
  2. yeah cant show coverage to level 1 users. How you do this when doing a walk test without emptying the building is another issue
  3. you wont be able to, but if went it tamper before and you havnt reset it, it may be locked out so wont go off anyway
  4. qfa good point my bad you have a tmaper fault that will need to be found and restored or bypassed to test the panel. It wont reset until its cleared
  5. if you have engineer access and its an old galaxy then remote comms is on by default. If newer one then it will be on manager auth iirc. You using a 232 module?
  6. Also is a pir suitable for the room, Can you post a photo of the room from the pir position. What settings are the sesnsor set to and im assuming no pets?
  7. but the ion has awful 1 way wireless?
  8. depends on the age of them by the sounds they are knocking on.
  9. its a good level of detection, I have all external windows and doors with shock sensors and all downstairs rooms have movement sensors. All on their own circuit. 2 external sounders but proper signalling
  10. you should only have 1 detector per zone/circuit
  11. too late ive got them and like the convenience but get your point
  12. thats still an eternity electronics wise
  13. if its important to you then as Mr H its long out of date, working for the minute you test it is one thing working to rely on is another. Id say the 46xx series went obsolete mid 90's? If its not important then turn it off. I doubt any of the pro members on here still have your system on any support contract. There is a reason for that. One thing is it was a very good system in its day
  14. to be fair ive got a few of these around the house. Rather than split add them where you need them
  15. ok then id next be metering the back of the board on each switch to see if the tamper switches themselves. If not it is totally knackered
  16. im not sure i recall that panel due to age but is the zone light on as well or just the tamper light. Also when you close both tamper switches do you get the tx led to flash on the contact?
  17. is there links in the connections on the one from the front door? iirc the external and reed are series connections so if there is no link the contact built in wont function either
  18. we are trying to confirm that the unit has failed. If you put a wire link between each set of the terminals to ensure its not external. Im thinking as the built in reed isnt working your fault is here or external.
  19. is it an lcd keypad if so you need to post your log history
  20. Can you post your logs from the time
  21. No not at all. I'm sure you can appreciate I always want questions I was just assuming there was an overriding issue, sorry
  22. Op you seem to have an issue due to your last few posts, just assuming based on recent it could be an x y thing. why don't you just ask that question?
  23. Top reply 6 says it
  24. Daft as it is this showed up in another search. Must will be loads of keypads not operating correctly, who would of thought a non serviced bit of kit would not work perfectly after 20 or so years.
