Nice touch with the Bold there
  2. I'd recommend Nest over Swann any day that's for sure!
  3. More affordable, still needs installation of a kind.

Thats not what he said in this months Security Professional.
  5. Bear in mind 'premium' monitoring and cloud recording is £8 a month, which will soon add up.
  6. You will struggle to get any CCTV worthwhile fitted for that, you would be hard pushed to get any decent kit worth having alone tbh
  7. Yep, I'd sort that security and alarm first. Otherwise you'll merely be looking at your phone every ten seconds when the bushes move and cause an alert, or reviewing the footage 8 hours later when the perps are long back home and musing what lovely head coverings they are wearing and, yes, they really did smash that window hard and take the TV.

Why what did you do to him?
  9. If you bought your lead from ebay there is a very high chance it isn't really FTDI even if it says it is - or even if your computer says it is! CPC sell genuine FTDI modules (basically a USB plug on a tiny PCB with 3 solder terminals) for TTL type use, or of course there is the genuine texe item as above.
  10. No, it's older (ancient) versions that can't either be flashed at all (no port) or past a certain version (not enough RAM/EEPROM space) that you might have read about. Any Premier should be fine, AFAIK.
  11. Thanks but there is no god given right to be hand-held through the settings, neither from the manufacturer, who provides training courses for professional installers, nor from us. Plenty of help has been given, and I hope you get it working, but, as Yeti said an alarm is much like a ZX Spectrum; 'don't worry, you cannot break the machine itself by incorrect programming'. Have a play, make changes, see what happens, if it doesn't work, put it back to how it was. That's why Wintex is so useful.
  12. £65 is a great price, and you will be needing a new battery as an absolute minimum by the sounds of it. Also there is absolutely no guarantee any of it works, doesn't have existing faults, or frequently false alarms. No doubt it was turned off for a reason.
  13. Feel free to post your solution (I don't use Texecom)
  14. Never did do fire, intruder / access will only be 'by invitation '.
  15. Nah Trump wannabes probably though. Be doing more property maintenance type services. But strictly not rental / HMO type work.
  16. Not for an i-On user Am winding things down on the security front if I'm honest, but next time might give them a go again to see what the new ones are like.
  17. No not tried them for a while, I have quite a few older ones which I've been saving up for my own place where speed and ease of installation is less of an issue...
  18. Hello, we've not forgotten about you
  19. Before you embark on such a project, have a quick read of these 2 recent threads; and
  20. I found a BNIB massive Gardtec speaker when I cleared out the old stores. I'd brought it from Bath where I would have kept, er, spare like from van stock working for the firm in the late 90s. It then sat in the new stores for 12 months. It then moved to my (and hopefully this is my last move ever) new home workshop / stores. Finally fitted it in a barn alarm job last month
  21. Have tried it - and stock it - great in certain situations but not so good at a cover-up!
  22. Hi, if you wish to apply for trade then see here - Otherwise normal public rules apply, I'm afraid.
  23. Ok no worries, take it easy!
  24. With something like a 9651 Scantronic panel, any issues are shown in plain text, i.e Chime = ON, Bell Tamper, Alar Zone 2 (Front Room) etc...
