  1. Nope, it really shouldn't, but I still wouldn't worry about it. There is nothing that can be done to defeat the alarm from the keypad and they will have to either take things from the hallway only or proceed to any room setting off the sensor anyway
  2. Yes, some wouldn't recommend it but will save the external bell from sounding. As above it won't if you disconnect the wires at the main box first
  3. By removing them at the panel temporarily this can be virtually eliminated
  4. Personally, I would simply enter the engineer code, and then remove the 12v and 0v wires on the 'bus' connection inside the main box. This is easy to spot as its the only block that sits on its own, with 4 terminals, at the bottom of the circuit board. Then remove the old keypad, noting which colours are 12v 0v data Clock The new 9943 keypad has exactly the same connections, just in a slightly different place. Once this is connected, simply reconnect the 12v and 0v at the panel, shut the cabinet, and return to the keypad. You might have to press a key to make the display come back, but you should be able to press 0 9 9 then 'tick' and exit engineering mode. To add fobs, simply add a new user in the normal way, but offer up the fob rather than entering a number. Hope this helps!
  5. There would be no rewiring just two screws in the wall, no reprogramming either, its just the new version of the obselete 9930, straight replacement other than the size.
  6. Don't bother, you'll soon be replacing the 2nd 9930, they are terrible for keys. Get yourself a 9943 keypad, and you'll gain fob operation at the same time.
  7. No, I guess they were dead by then... But guessing a 2TB SATA on a PATA>SATA adaptor would work?
  8. It would be fine if there was a genuine in only and out only ped lane, fully supervised by leaders to make sure kids fob in and out, and if the entry to the site was after the car park etc... On that basis you'd just be using the software for roll call, rather than worrying about actual physical barriers.
  9. I imagine a £5.99 ebay 12V RF relay doesn't comply either!
  10. Buy a cased Paxton demo kit, buy two 'Advanced' format readers from Advanced (these are rebadged Paxton Universals at 1/5 the Paxton price) and yes they'll have to set up booths inc. any access and egress by minibus... nightmare. At least with a boxed kit it can be stored until next year, and the readers have RJ45s on already...
  11. Good luck keeping an accurate count of in/out without a turnstile or airlock No, but if you purchase via 'Advanced Access' you'll get Paxton kit and a 125khz reader for a fraction of the Paxton price of a universal reader To be fair it sounds like a walking away job, from the PoV they won't want ton pay what it will cost
  12. Still, probably got a nice xmas bonus from the scrappie?
  13. Not sure about embedded but wasn't 2TB the max for any PATA interface on the average winbox?
  14. Ironically the crappest analogue CCTV jobs usually use (albeit CCA) Cat5 anyway so it's at least future proof!
  15. Used to do an annual service at a caravan park testing CU's (still do but this fella has gone) Every year the old awkward unloading of the cupboard, and removing the big clear plastic bin full of porn to get to the unit... Being a caravan park (albeit a nicer than usual one), he was of course also retired and home virtually 24/7, so it was always obvious!
  16. Yep and after a while they die too, esp. in a more modern house where they can get in, but no so easily out. It's why after an initial period, a dead body in flat can be left undiscovered for months. I think the oldest we found - going by the open TV times - was about 4 months, though others have been to years old bodies. Sad really - clearly no family nor friends; it was a flat and neighbours hadn't noticed the TV on all that time either. The rookie copper asked if we were going to use the ECG machine to confirm cardiac death!!
  17. Nope. doubt it. But Eaton are not impressing me having just released a wireless DT (their first ever) that isn't 2 way, despite the i-On range being '2 way ready' for many years.
  18. Ah now I've seen the pic it's not Defender, no. But it is still tat A Scantronic 9651 or similar will be a good replacement.
  19. Wires for downstairs sensors are mostly wired from upstairs
