  1. Hi and welcome,
  2. can you not power that one locally ?
  3. Ive got one of them, all he does is eat sleep and woof at cats, he cant even make a cup of tea lazy bastard, I wont get another one
  4. It wont take long for someone to work out what that big light on the front of your house means, and the one time you go out without arming your alarm that will be it. Although its a DIY system having an indication outside the property that informs that the system is set is against the BS
  5. He probably didn't charge you enough
  6. There are people on here who work or worked for ADT they will be able to let you know if its possible. If they dont do it then they are missing a trick
  7. If the door is open when you try to set it the keypad will tell you its open
  8. Just cancel the monitoring and keep the contract then
  9. Then why did you cancel the contract? If it goes wrong you're not covered, ADT generally dont fit external sounders so if you have a burglary, no one will hear it.
  10. They wont give you it but they should default it for you for a charge of course.
  11. Its probably set up as final set, which means when the entry time starts the alarm will arm when it sees the door open then close. It depends on if the engineer progged a delay on how long after the door is closed it arms. Assuming that the hall is off and that there are no other detectors on your entry route it should arm if the door is open or closed so long as you open and close it on your way out. Is the hall detector looking towards stairs?
  12. Hi do you have a detector on the exit route in the hallway?
  13. They stopped making 2.6 ah in 1998 the battery should be changed evey 4 years so at the very least the battery has been pulling the charging circuit down for the last 18 years I bet the transformer hums like an electric chair in full killing mode. its not beyond repairable, but the cost to repair outweighs the cost to replace, I stopped fixing TV's in 1997 for that very reason. Especially if you factor in that you wont be able to buy the components for something that old as components are now much smaller. But on the bright side you have saved 20x £50 per annum in service visits and you haven t been burgled it may be that you have had your moneys worth from it.
  14. Frankie and Bennies urggh never tell them its your birthday unless you like Cliff Richard. I was in there for a quiet meal one evening with the missus unfortunately I picked a day that about 20 people had their birthday and they all decided to go to F&B to celebrate. Every 5 fooking minutes they played congratulations and came out with a cake with a sparkler in it. I wouldnt mind but cliff was played much louder than the ambient music which made me jump every fooking time it came on. Foods not that great for the money either
  15. Do they still give those out, I remember as a lad of 17 collecting about 5 of those within a couple of days, the copper behind the counter got the right knock with me because he had to fill a form out for each of them, he asked why I didn't tell the coppers that stopped me after the first time that I already had a producer. Never mind the fact that I had been stopped on 5 separate occasions within 48 hours, for no other reason than being young in charge of a motor vehicle. I hoped they would get the message but it never worked I still got stopped all the fooking time.
  16. Your getting insuring the vehicle, and insuring the driver mixed up Whoever is driving is responsible, Im insured to drive any car with the owners permission, if I have an accident in someone else's then the responsibility is mine. My chap would still have my permission if he had his own insurance.
  17. He got a quote £220 not sure how long that was for though
  18. I had an engineer ask me if he can still use his van (its his only transport) I allow them to use it for private milage so long as they pay for their fuel. I checked with the insurer and was told the vehicle can only be used for business use and if the employee in question is working, and he is clearly not if furloughed. Normally I can get away with private useage as all engineers are on call and could be called at anytime and so have to take their van with them wherever they go. But whilst on furlough its not possible to say this. Also his Liability insurance wont be valid for you, so if you fall off your ladder you're fecked, if you drop your drill from up the ladder on someones head your fecked. So not only is you're boss breaking the law and both you and him can be done for fraud, you're not insured, to drive, have an accident, or cause an accident.
  19. In your shoes Id buy a grade 1 surface contact and remove the reed from that
  20. Well I suppose if the repairing of the alarm doesnt work, you can donate it to the Black Country Museum
  21. LOL ! James's patch
