  1. You can solder new batteries on these Ive done it in the past
  2. I see this sort of stuff on FB all the time this one has just popped up, now I understand this is a beta version but we know that even beta tested stuff with some manufactures wouldn't be released without making sure it works
  3. The problem would be the server its polling, if that server its polling doesnt tell you that its not receiving the polls then there is no point. Polling via a Alarm Receiving Centre is the most reliable way to prevent this sort of targeted attack. and that is what I would recommend if you want to be sure From what i can make out the Texe Pyronix and Risco app based alarms have all gone down regularly in one way or another. Not sure about Honeywell and Eaton but HKC has been 100% more reliable than the other three. Either that or just use GSM, hide your router, make sure that the BB line cannot be tampered with from the outside if you really must go self monitoring and you feel you could be targeted in this way
  4. Most people that come here dont like a great big ugly burglar in their house LOL! Seriously though there are several are many alternatives out there depending on what where the controls can be positioned. The biggest problem you will have is that the cables all terminate at the panel, and so they will need to be re-routed to the new panels position, best to call the company that installed it and ask them for a quote to update it
  5. can you take a picture from further away, it looks like a loft hatch
  6. I am guessing that this is an abandoned building, I am surprised that the power is on. Logan I am sure that you already know this but you really should not be on top of a lift messing around in an abandoned building. There are so many things that could go wrong, I really wouldnt want to see you get hurt ,or worse, like us get into trouble because we knew you were doing this stuff and didnt say anything
  7. Solway or somewhere or other I stayed, the seagulls were active and loud from around 05.00AM the whole place was like an episode from one foot in the grave
  8. Thats the place Youll be saying that Bath is pronounced how its spelt next
  9. Somewhere near the McVities factory, the town centre seemed to have more druggies and drinkers than average for my liking. Stayed in a village where the beach had a big factory (I say beach it was more like a big muddy river/harbour) and the houses and pubs looked a bit run down. While I was there I visited Edinborough (nice but set up for tourists) Lakes very nice, Hadrians Wall (not what I thought it would be) on the way home we did the Dales very nice
  10. Ive been to Cumbria I dont think I would need to see it twice to know Where James is living is much nicer
  11. Ive had a few minis including one with a 1360 engine that went like stink, they held the road like nothing else but I couldnt see how you would survive a proper accident in one
  12. looking at the state of that keypad I dont think the plague would survive long in that environment
  13. Call the number on the sticker and arrange for an engineer to come and fix it after youve finished painting
  14. Also you should wait for the tester to cool between tests
  15. Which model? Sounds like he got 6v and 12v confused
  16. There isnt really anything as you describe but with app based alarm systems its not that hard to make something like that with a driod tab, I did this for my own use but I rarely use it for the alarm. The other problem with expensive keypads is that nobody wants to spend the extra money, especially if they are only likely to be burgled by opportunists . Many people like to keep things simple in most cases buttons are rarely used on a domestic alarm most would use a fob for arming and disarming, I do part set and quick set areas and theyre couple to buttons press. When my alarm goes off (Never happens) my smartphone tells me vocally what has activated I dont have to look at it unless I want to disarm it from my phone Much as I like the concept of a touchscreen keypad with a nice display, I use mine more to answer the door, look at the CCTV, control the heating, switch lights on and off, than I do to control the alarm. Oh and I would disagree about the dumb IP cameras AI is the new thing in CCTV
