  4. I've a crazy idea, pay an alarm man with ladder to fully disconnect it or repair it ? Or power it down internally & buy / hire a ladder & remove the battery(s) from the external sounder(s) ( the sounders often start making noises with faulty batteries despite the controls being powered down)
  5. aertex ? floor tiles ? guttering / fall pipes ? garage roof ?
  6. Remove the fuse from the fused spur underneath the controls..... ? On the circuit board there's 4 diodes, which create a bridge rectifier, the prolonger current & heat from charging a duff battery knackers 'em Normally a consumer unit has little sticker with the companies name, When you purchase a property you should get the electrical certificates or get a periodic test undertaken at the seller expensive before exchanging Depending on date of works & assuming your in England or Wales you electical work may recording on the Councils planning portal
  7. A fused spur is requirement of the BS standard It provides means of isolation before removing the lid & some controls don't have fuse inside for the mains input Don't get the same electrician which did the consumers unit.... The current alarm panel is not approved to EN 50131, a proper alarm co, will want to replace the controls
  8. Better than the consumer unit but only just
  9. Assuming you've bought it.... did you not chip 'em some £ for a proper alarm & proper fuse box ?

  12. "trade" alarm equipment has been sold to anyone & everyone for as long as I've been an alarm man. I can buy roof tiles, bricks ect.... it don't make me a builder
  13. none spring to mind, I other free of charge - Moral Support.... you can do this ? I won't sell parts, as some mong will put the battery in the wrong way or whatever
  14. Alarm companies employ people to work on alarms, if your expecting someone from the company to talk you though & hold your hand while you modify their work you may surprised to find out "cheerio & good luck" might be the reply However I'd delete the radio keypad & relearn it, beware battery life & range are not amazing....
