I can understand that James. I don't always agree with the guys he's abusive to, but they're all good knowledgeable & professional engineers who give their time freely and don't deserve the abuse.
  2. Hi data: There's no argument, we just have different opinions. When I first started, we were using Bentley 2 zone battery only panels for domestic stuff. At one time (Later years) we were using Gardtec kit as well, a lot of people disliked them with a passion but I think they did exactly what it said on the box. I only use LCD panels and EOL or wireless for installs but if someone asked me to fit an LED panel, I wouldn't have a problem with doing that.

Aah, don't you just love troll's ? You could always do us all a favour and ban him.
  4. Agreed: The reason for suggesting the same panel was for the ease of a DIY swap out and as you so rightly point out the strongest possibility of a first time fix.
  5. Hey al: You've been marked down by a troll, yay me too. Ah well at least I'm in good company that's you, me and Data all in the same thread.
  6. Forget I asked, just realised who you were on about: Our resident troll.
  7. Seems we're going to have to agree to disagree again. How many times have you asked a customer with an all seeing / dancing alarm what the log says, only to get the reply of : Um what log ?.
  8. Because I don't have a thing about upgrading just for the sake of it, an ADE Optima is a perfectly adequate panel for a lot of small domestic properties. Simple to install and easy to use, they work out well for a lot of people.
  9. Hi Nathan: Replacing your panel like for like with another Optima compact & new battery would be well within the capabilities of a competent DIY'ER and cost £60 - £70. If going this route please ensure that you turn off the Mains electricity before touching it and if your in any doubt about your ability to do the work safely, please call an alarm engineer.
  10. Hi: Unfortunately we don't give out manuals to non trade, it's against forum rules.
  11. The battery is quite probably faulty and as Peter James pointed out, the charging circuit may also be faulty now. You could try replacing the battery and checking the charging circuit output with a multimeter, but you may just be throwing away the cost of the battery.
  12. I thought Al was the old man of the forum , or have people been lying to me ?
  13. Not sure whether that's a good thing or bad mate.
  14. You getting to the stage where each week feels like a lifetime H ?.
  15. Tell the truth H, 75 years in & you still love it . Welcome Ryan.
  16. Thought we all did this sort of thing, I've got a mechanic coming next week to re roof the house. Hope he does as good a job as the real roofer. Anyone who thinks the local sparky is going to do a Better or Cheaper job fitting an Alarm system is seriously Barking up the wrong tree. Most of them charge a lot more and sure don't have the experience to do it properly. All I can say to the OP is good luck, your probably going to need it.
  17. I think you'll find that Tavcom training do all the courses you need & they're a well established and respected company.
  18. Hi: Sorry it was something your dad bought before he died & he got ripped off but glad you managed to get your money back. You might want to take a look at the DIY kits sold somewhere like security warehouse ( Really good to deal with ) or alternatively your local TLC Electrical do a basic wired system at a good price. If you need any help with questions on installation or setting up, please ask and we'll do our best to help you get it sorted.
  19. If you look at page 30 of the programming reference manual, it should tell you all you need to know.
  20. Agreed there's lots of tat being imported in all areas, especially anything Electronic. Personally I think the importers are lowlife, preying on the uninformed & unsuspecting public & very often knowingly selling badly made & dangerous equipment.
  21. Me: I'm blaming the Chinese & the morons that imported this **** .
