  1. Hey al: The damned thing drove me crazy, he spoke to the local council & they had the fuse pulled on that one light. So far no more F/A's, they're re - fitting it again Friday so we'll see what happens.
  2. Good topic, having the same sort of problem with a friend's Infinite prime system recently. It's been fine for over 2 years but since the local street lighting has been changed to LED, has suffered from Random false alarms overnight whether set or unset and the street lighting is on. There's a light about 3m from his front door & the external sounder, log will show front door activation or external sounder tamper randomly. The contact has been changed just in case & nothing wrong with the sounder tamper.
  3. Hey: I just went from being a monkey to a gorilla with no evolution in between, cool . So when did we start getting called gorillas ? seems I've missed a lot, mind you I've been called a lot worse.
  4. Yay, I'm not a Dinosaur any more I think. Don't mind being a monkey, that's what my youngest calls me when I wind her up.
  5. gorillas ?, Thought all the younger engineers still called us dinosaurs.
  6. Hey al: No offense mate, but your too young to be old school .
  7. Hi Patrick: Big problem is that a large proportion of installers don't know how to fit the spur correctly, never mind how to test when they're finished and probably don't have the equipment either. Don't know if it's still being done but a few of the installers around here used to just hang a length of 1mm t/e or 3 core flex off the nearest light, socket, cooker box etc to feed the panel. If you actually got a spur you were lucky & a 3 amp fuse was a luxury.
  8. Aye James, it's probably gone down quite a bit . Just sad to hear, there's probably not that many of the really old school engineers left now. Arf used to remind me a lot of the old guy that taught me.
  9. Go on with you, you know you love it really. Changing the subject totally, was sorry to hear arfur had passed. Used to enjoy talking to him.
  10. Brilliant, the place hasn't changed then ? It's still the best nuthouse in the UK . Thanks again for the welcome guys.
  11. Hey guys: Thanks for the welcome, much appreciated. Happy, Just think mate: You could have been a plumber, that would have been worse. Would have probably been better paid though. Sad I know, but I've actually missed being out on the tools & meeting all the weird and wonderful customers.
  12. Very true mate glad to be back, just catching up on some of the stories. How are you doing ? Andy
  13. Know this is a bit old, but how in the world did it get in there ?.
  14. Hey guys: Not an introduction but a sort of re-introduction, originally joined the fire and security installer forum bàck in 2008 & was on there for many years. Unfortunately had to give up the trade due to health problems but I'm hoping that after doing a lot of catching up that I can get back into it, even if it has to be part time to start with. Really glad to see the forum is still going, even if it is in a slightly different format. May need to ask some questions about the newer systems and regs, if they seem a bit bone be gentle. Andy
  15. Hi & thanks for the update, glad to see you've got a sense of humour. Trust me if you play about with Alarms enough you'll need it LOL, why do you think were all crazy? anymore help needed let us know.
  16. Wonder if the OP got this sorted out I hate it when they don't tell us.
  17. Sounds like it's telling you a Zone is in Fault: Remove the Zone 2 wires in the panel & fit a link in place of them, put the panel in walk test or if nescessary full set, remove 1 end of the Zone 2 link & this should show as Zone activated or set the alarm off. If it does then the Zone cable may be damaged, if not check your programming or you have a panel fault. BEWARE THERE ARE LIVE MAINS CONNECTIONS WHEN THE PANEL IS OPEN.

  21. Strange how such little things can help you see more clearly when working out your runs.
  22. Worst one i think i ever came across, we were fitting a system in Port Talbot. House was really scanky but you know what it's like, you dont do the job the boss gets Hissed and wont pay you. Anyway sent my mate upstairs to the bedroom to pull the carpet 2 mins later he calls me, he had to move the bed & underneath found a pair of soiled nickers and a half full bedpan. Scary the way some people live, didnt take us long to get out of there.
