March 15, 200422 yr comment_9290 To anyone who can help, I have an Optima 2 Plus home alarm system (10 years old) which has suddenly stopped working. There is now a continuous bleep from the keypad and the keypad itself won't accept either my personal code or the factory setting code. I have been advised it could be that the battery in the control panel is dead but that, if I try to replace it myself, it could set off the alarm and I may not be able to reset it (upsetting for my neighbours). Q Does this sytem have some sort of tamper protection that will set of the alarm if I try to open the control box to replace the battery? What should I do (other than call out an engineer)? , Fergmeister. March 16, 200422 yr comment_9389 Peter is correct If the battery hasnt been changed it is possible it has done damage to a component in the charging circuit. Nearest equivalent panel is the Opptima G3 8 zone. Make sure battery is changed at least every 3 to 4 years.
