I’m back again, yes! Many people have sent ‘engineer manuals’ which have the user manual instead. I’ve had the board repaired with a new mem battery fitted and I can’t fathom how to get it out of the ‘pipping’ mode. It’s not gonna get thrown out just kept for fun. I haven’t got a clue what the codes would be or what this supposed ‘engineers switch’ is? Any help is appreciated! (P.S: ignore the angry Galaxy in the back I nicked its battery 😂) TIA AG IMG_2610.mov

  2. Hi everyone, I’m planning to install a security system in my home and would love some advice. I’m trying to decide between professional installation and a DIY setup. What are the pros and cons of each approach in terms of reliability, cost, and long-term maintenance? Also, are there specific brands or technologies (wired vs. wireless, smart integrations, cameras, sensors) that you would recommend for optimal security? Any tips on placement, avoiding false alarms, or future-proofing the system would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences and insights!

  3. Hi everyone, I’ve recently started my fire and security apprenticeship and I’m really keen to learn as much as I can. I’ve been getting a lot of help from my colleagues on site, but if I’m honest a lot of things aren't really clicking yet. I’d love to start doing some extra learning at home, but I’m not sure where to start. The main things I’m struggling with at the moment are understanding the wiring of different devices and getting to grips with what each device actually does. For example, I often hear about things like relays, zone monitors, tampers etc (+way more) but I don’t fully understand how they work or how they fit into a system. If anyone co…

  5. Started by Simonep,

I need a specific mini cctv I have had in the past, but cannot seem to find now. It is ideal for the application I have in mind. It was a two part set a cctv camera and a rx box that would be wired to a monitor. Both powered by PP9 batteries. iirc they were used in bird nesting boxes and things like that? Any thoughts?

Some time ago, I was directed to this site http://www.zen22142.zen.co.uk/ronj/shs.html when asking about an alarm panel schematic, I am in the process of building a panel from this website, however, I was wondering if anyone had a schematic I can use to make an SAB module, or bell module, or even if they have one would be able to get a photo of its PCB tracks, and components, so I could have a go at tracing them back out. I have an idea for a circuit, its the Ni-Cd battery charging bit I'm unsure of, any help would be much appreciated. I have included a photo of a CMOS LED flasher I made, this could be the comfort LEDs of the bell box, Gabs

Had a locked panel recently and just couldn't get into it to default it. So ended up making a utility to do just that. Annoying when a company locks a panel then decides to go bust lol.

Does anybody know what happened to Regalsafe panels? They used to do the rs40,50,75,100,125,150 and possibly more that I cant remember. At the time it was a great panel if not a bit tricky to program...

I'm now on my third Gardtec 816 system in my last three houses. I know my way around them well. All bought and fitted by myself, the latest purchased over the counter from Gardtec (Leeds) in 2003. I know they're obsolete now but its still a good enough system for me. I'm using 24 zone EOL with 3x LCD Contour Ace RKP and 4x PIR. The LCD screen on one of the Ace RKP's recently became difficult to read (contrast?) so I decided to replace and soon found that getting spares is an issue. I managed to get a later G-Tag contour RKP brand new from eBay and that's now fitted. While I was shopping I found an 816 v4.1 motherboard (same as mine) for £16 so I've bought it jus…

  14. PIR light on the house alarm stays on permanently on one of the zone (zone 2 - lounge) When trying to set the alarm, the zone 2 - lounge light stays solid & keeps bleeping continuously on the alarm panel, just won’t set? I’ve to omit the zone 2 - lounge from the alarm panel to get the rest of the zones working & able to set the alarm? I’ve also opened the alarm panel up, disconnected the zone 2 wires (blue & yellow) to see if the rest of the alarm zones works without having to omit zone 2, It didn’t work so Is there a specific way of doing this? Also forgotten which way the blue & yellow wires goes back, does it make any diffe…

Hi, I'm trying to setup a new Pyronix MC1Z1-WE wireless sensor so that it uses a garage door NC reed switch attached to the external Zone, as well as functioning with the built-in mag contact on the other Zone. I can't access the installation instructions using the supplied QR code online as I'm an end-user and so can't get a Pyronix website account. I do have the installation instructions for the shock sensor version (MC1Z2-WE) and I was hoping the PCB/jumpers would be the same. It is roughly the same but my sensor is missing the 3-pin jumper to setup the external Zone input type (NC or double pole). What I want is: The MC1Z1 buil…
