Good one.

Once and only once I could not get the van off the drive.

I think you saw the slope of it James when you was there.

 

They said if you cannot come in its an unpaid day.

Fair enough,

 

There was every possibility of the van skidding and being damaged even if it could get moving, so I accepted the pay loss that a earfull for a damaged van,

Problem is if you are too inflexible as an employer and insist it's unpaid then you risk employees coming to work under duress which can cost a lot more in the long run. Needs to be fair on both sides.

Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

I did say if they came and got it off and onto a more dangerous hill then onto the main road undamaged  I would come in unpaid.

 

They refused.

 

So they knew I wasnt talking hot air to get a day off.

Would rather have gone in.
