  1. The original Optimas/Accentas I can still programme without a manual The G3 range onwards,I still require one though. They moved everything about. Tbh, it very rare we'll fit one, maybe for an old dear with all the cables coming out at switch height in the hall for instance.
  2. christ! Wish we had the time, that's epic!
  3. Yes House Area A. You can still then have a 'part arm' for night set for example. Outbuildings Area B Keep the keypads separate to each area, keeps it simple then. Code for the house assigned to area A. Outbuildings area B.
  4. ive not had that, but noted.
  5. Yup had it myself, two installs next door to each other (brother and sister) both on fibre, first one flew in port forwarded first time. Second house, must have spent an hour on it. Leave dhcp enabled on the dvr, reserve the ip it in the router I've power cycled them a few times and it's all gravy New hh4 has the same issue. Strange as the b type hh3 sorted it
  6. A type unit?? If so there are issues. B type will work first time. Must be in in dhcp table on router, even though it should be reserved.
  7. I think the op would be better with a texecom or I-on panel IMO
  8. Galaxy do camera PIR's that work work flex, but again looks like it needs to be set to to be received at an ARC I've never fitted those, but we interface our alarms with another camera PIR system. Its made by RSI videofied. This sends a 10 second video clip to the ARC to visually identify any intrusion etc. It can also be emailed to the end user, and i believe they now have a user app.
  9. If your nice house and hard work deserves a decent alarm, it deserves a decent professional engineer to commission it? Does you sparky mate fit much galaxy? Welcome btw
  10. Lol, that sneeky feckker has nearly had me once or twice.......!
  11. ADE were fine back in the day. must admit i hate 9800's with a passion. Nice chime though
  12. No issues as you wouldnt know Only joking. Weve got a few sites, just never been a fan of it really, especially when compared to say a G2 running portals. Never used Texe wireless. I like the idea, just looking on here it seems a bit 'fussy' in its set up.
  13. scanny wireless is tat though. We have existing sites out there (mainly 9X5X) and the wireless PIRs especially are poor imo. Real **** pick up imo. Also not 2 way iirc?
  14. We fit galaxy Rock solid and as you mention they have the facility to add wireless later on if need be
  15. I found the keypad slow, at one point it told me wrong code entered after me activating it, then it unset.... Also the cringe at the talking alarm, dunno maybe it's just me, but the enforcer is the better system.
  16. Good stuff I came in here to say what ever you do don't get a risco agility Had the (mis) fortune of one today. Crock of ***** IMO. Much rather an enforcer any day for wire free.
  17. Maybe I should move ;-) If we're installing ip CCTV, we try and keep it on its own network. Everything is nicely labeled with our own patch colours etc. If they want it integrating it's up to the clients IT dept.
  18. That's it. A year ago I knew zilch, it's only with taking an interest, playing about with my own router etc, getting a basic grip, and now accompanied by a bit of training I've got the basics and can now fit ip CCTV, remote viewing etc pretty confidently. Lots of smaller co's are stuck in their ways. That's the problem I've had, I've never needed to know anything about networking as I've never had to. We are moving forward slowly, but some of the guys from local co's who were sent on a networking course I was on knew nothing whatsoever ever, and were still none the wiser when they left. And I wouldn't want to......
  19. That's it though, 5 mins for you, but not everyone is super computer savvy..... All of your "fitters" 100% nailed on with computer networking skills?? I doubt it, they'll get you to commission whatever. Everyone has different skill sets, I love nothing more than thrashing in cables, getting into the nitty gritty, or maybe solving a decent fault..... On a recent course I've been to, it highlighted to me most NSI gold co employees (certainly in the NW) are not fully IT savvy.
  20. Fair play Also going back to the op I think £25 is a fair price for port forwarding. It's all very well saying it takes minutes, but that's bollox tbh. Trouble with domestic his there's far too many makes & models out there. Take the other day, I had two by home hub 3's. First one done was done in minutes, no problems. Second one would not open for love nor money, must have spent an hour ******* about with it. Turns out its a type A that needs to have the item in the dchp table even if it' has a static address. The whole thing was just a pita compared to the type b that forwarded first time.
  21. Change the output of the panel to detector reset. Then connect the 0v of your viper to it. This will power cycle the unit every time you set the alarm, thus clearing the led. In the book of words
  22. For me there's too many grey areas at the mo, and bits can be down to interpretation . There needs to be a pocket guide type of thing for normal goons like me on the tools, and a revision at every update, what's changed and why...... I'd pay for sure, would others? depends on them i suppose. An electrical one was under £20 off memory. For something to refer back to whilst on site, would be handy.
  23. Plain English for regs? 100% yes as an engineer!
