Hi can anyone help on this problem my son in law has his talk talk router in his office, the signal in the kitchen extension ( other side of house) is rubbish with wifi boosters, but he has a cat5 cable from the router in the office to a netgear 8 way switch in the kitchen which he uses for the tv and other equipment. What we are trying to find out is there any sort of kit that can be fitted on the network cable at the switch end to boost the signal. I did hear once that you could use another router connected to the cat5 cable and use that as a wifi booster is that so. many thanks. bjj

Slipstream exploit published this week allows an attacker to access any TCP/UDP service bypassing any NAT or firewall by just visiting a website with some malicious javascript.

  14. Just seen an interesting white paper on studies that have shown you can be identified by your interaction with WiFi signals. http://arxiv.org/pdf/1608.03430v1.pdf If you don't care for reading a white paper the overview is this maybe useful for smart homes of the future and has potential for domestic intruder detection. Will need a fair bit of work before it could be used but the concept could see the end of the movement sensors and domestic security as we know it.

Evening gents, Bit of a strange one, but hopefully someone can help. Got a site we've just installed CCTV on and the customer wants remote access. The NVR is on the internal network OK. When trying to set up the ports, I noted the WAN IP of the Draytek had a local address, and on further investigation it seems as though the customer's internal network goes through two routers. The broadband comes in through the Infinity modem, goes into a Cisco router which then goes into a Draytek Vigor 2860 router, to which our CCTV is connected (via a 4 port switch off the PC next to the NVR 80 metres away). I thought it might be a bit of a long shot, but I've tried to forward port…
