CCTV & Access Control

General CCTV queries.

  1. Started by davehudson,

Hi, I have been asked by a friend for a video doorbell and was wondering if anyone has installed the HIK one and what you thought.

  2. Started by davehudson,

Can anyone recommend a reliable App for andorid that will display/operate CCTV cameras. It is a few sites and he has a mixture of HIK, generic ONVIV and axis? Thanks in advance.

  3. Started by skywalker,

Hi Everyone, does anyone know of a 5mp DVR (not NVR!) which supports corridor mode? I've been asked to install some CCTV on vehicles and would like to have some, but not all, of the cameras in portrait mode. I don't want to use IP because of the lag and the higher cost. TVI would be ideal but any of the other technologies would be fine as long as i get 5mp (i'd go to 2mp if i absolutely had to but would rather not) Thanks in advance!

  4. Started by Steve Lambert,

Hi I am looking for a 2 cam setup with 2 8mp poe cameras, 1 for the front and 1 for the back of the house. Can anyone give me any advice please. It's for a mid terrace house domestic property. Also need a 4ch recorder with 2tb hd. Just trying to future proof for the next few years. Any recommendations cheers, best cameras to get have about £580 to include fitting. Thanks Steve

  5. Started by digitecks,

I have quite a few older heitel / camdisc dvr / nvr recorders and have fitted hikvision / hi tel ip cameras to them , but since a few months a go and the newer software and higher resolution in the cameras they are not compatable with the older recorders , has any one use a different camera that works , I do have to down grade them to 2 mp and work well for what I use them for i have a quantity of theses recorders so rather find a camera to suite , rather than replace the recorder Many thanks for any info / help you can give

Does anyone know if running cat5e underground with a fibre optic phone cable would cause any issues with picture quality on a IP camera system. The total run is about 200m with about 130m of it next to the fibre cable underground.

  11. Started by Sirtoddius,

Hi guys. Does anyone know of an external DVD writer that can be used with hikvision nvrs/dvrs preferably a slimline model. Most of the units We fit tend to not have built in writers so a backup has become a two step process. We are now having to burn to USB stick then use a laptop to burn to disc. 'I have contacted hikvision and they sent me a list of compatible writers but I think the list is old as iv searched for them online and most of them are no longer available to buy. We are not able to even buy loads of cheap USB sticks as the NHS trusts and local councils we work for block these on their staffs pcs Cheers

  12. Started by skywalker,

Hi, i've been installing loads of the hikvision POC cameras which support Telementry over Coax, even on the statics. This is used to get into the camera menu to adjust resolution, framerate, WDR, etc. It can be done fine from the DVR or the web interface, but when using IVMS4200 or the HIK connect app, I get an error saying the device does not support PTZ! I'm running the latest version of everything - I get this error on all my systems and could do with it working to save an hour round visit to site! on the hik connect app i can change zoom, but it doesn't give me iris or focus options which is how you navigate the menu! TIA!

  15. Started by skywalker,

Hi everyone, strange post i know, but i'm after some of the old style CRT CCTV monitors, if anyone has any laying around or due for upgrade, please let me know! It's the ones in 'cube' type cases i'm after, so most CCTV or broadcast types will do! I've got a few from upgrade jobs but you just don't see them anywhere now! Thanks! Luke
