Keeping A 7Ah Charged Via 12V In Vehicle

Recommended Posts

As title, easiest way to connect a battery to cigarette socket to keep it topped up, this battery would be supplying LED lighting-reason for battery is so ignition need not be on to use lighting, but battery would be charged whilst driving etc, any thoughts people?.

cheers guys.

Our factory fitted caravan Tracker has a boggo standard 7ah yuasa 'charged' via a massive diode from the caravans nominal 14.4v supply. It goes into storage twice a year with no mains and main battery isolated, for 3 and 5 months at a time. Tracker still works 3 years on (lifetime sub), will check 7ah battery when I remember to take the tester...

So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands

Split charge relay unit, only connects 7ah to vehicle when engine is running

The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct!

(Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)

Thanks guys for the replies.

Swb ciggy socket dies with the ignition, purely led strip-5 mtrs- to go around the inside of the back.

The internal light at the back times out even if overidden on the switch.

I could just use the 7aH, but that means I gotta change it/charge it sometimes, just wondered if there is a suitable way of keeping it topped up in van so to speak.

Ta chaps,

Rich.

Seeing!, the lights in the backs of vans are ****, as we know.

I keep meaning to add a couple of extra fittings in the back of mine, was just gonna get a couple of 12v strip lights and just connect them into the rear excuse for a light
