September 18, 201213 yr Author comment_290538 my apc smart ups' have been clicking over into over voltage protection lately, IIRC the logs showed 260vac+ which is nice... Seems to happen every time we get powercuts. Will have a good ol' Google. related video: skip to about 5 mins 20 Edited September 18, 201213 yr by SoupDragon Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/33381-advice-on-sensor-positions/page/10/#findComment-290538 Share on other sites Share on LinkedIn Share on X Share on Facebook {lang="reddit_text" Share via email Share on Pinterest
 September 18, 201213 yr comment_290541 If you can prove the 260, then your electricity supplier will be forced to resolve that..... However i doubt the readings accuracy. I imagine lots of things going bang at a peak like that Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/33381-advice-on-sensor-positions/page/10/#findComment-290541 Share on other sites Share on LinkedIn Share on X Share on Facebook {lang="reddit_text" Share via email Share on Pinterest
 September 19, 201213 yr Author comment_290553 Tested this morning with my multimeter and was getting 246, I'll test it again when the ups clicks over to AVR trim. I've planned my cable runs so not to go anywhere near mains wiring. This is where the ac filters would go? Providing I had over 1.2vac being measured. September 19, 201213 yr Author comment_290556 or filter would go into one of those... I'd only need one right? September 19, 201213 yr comment_290558 One of the filters is a mains filter, you wire from the spur to the filter and use the filtered output in your mains connections. The 1313 is a low voltage spike suppressor this has three wires a 12 positive, a 0V negative and a mains earth. You only require one of each filter. FYI the filters come with destructions. September 19, 201213 yr comment_290567 Most don't need one. True, most sites with metal end stations and cables away from mains don't. It was mentioned how to test if you need one above. Ox's Post. Test between a 12Vdc connection and mains earth on your lowest AC range; if over 1.2Vac fit one. Sometimes putting your spare cores to earth can do the same thing, depends on the installation.
