Make sure you set the timer just long enough for the mother in law to get only half way up

The smart phone app is designed to set unset the alarm when you are not there (remotely), so the panel is not waiting for you to open and shut the door before it arms. When you set the alarm from the keypad the panel knows you are there and is waiting for you to go out so it wants to see the door open and close again, if the contact is not opening when you open the door it wont know you have gone out so it will continue to give exit tone. But dont just take my word for it, go on keep asking these numpties questions LOL!

I know the copper with the speed camera wont be there but it would give you an idea of the road and likely speed limit ?

damp in the contact it will get worse over time, if it was positioned wrongly or anything else it would be open circuit all the time
-
Slamming the door causes the glass tube to break or crack then the damp gets on the contact and they stick together The only way to fix it is to replace the door contact
-
Street view it now

Yeah yeah, well I have invented a paint that will put everyone out of work, the householder just paints a cross outside their front door and the burglar will go next door, I just need to get it approved by insurance companies and Im off to somewhere warm to have boobies rubbed in my face all day long.

The fact that you didnt even see the camera makes it worse IMO, ffs dont tell them that they'le have you for not taking due care as well! Ive been caught by the Gatso when they first came out but I know where all the local ones are now. I have always noticed the mobile ones, but I have not always been speeding when Ive spotted them anyway. I hate the ones on the M25 especially when they are fooking around with the speed limits and there is no reason for it.

Hi Antonio Well, there are three differentials in the UK, there is the diy market, the non approved market, and the approved market. Monitored systems in the UK that call the Police must be installed by the approved market and there are two inspectorates that can provide approval http://www.nsi.org.uk National security inspectorate and https://ssaib.org Something Security and inspectorate board. Both sites have a list of companies that they provide approval for. It would be quite hard to nail down exactly how many non approved companies are out there I know of several in my town that have come and gone over the years. DIY well there is a strong market for DIY we daily get requests for help from people doing DIY on their alarms. Most approved companies can do the majority of your list we certainly can, sadly there is not that much call for some of it

Hi Antonio Welcome to the forum. Technically the I would say US is about the same as us but, their rules are less secure. We have tamper circuits which are 24 hour circuits protecting against the system being sabotaged whilst unset, I have not seen these circuits being used in the US. I do not quite understand what it is you want exactly. But the security industry in the UK does have smart alarm systems with smart phone apps that can control other outputs such as lights and locks, there are also systems with integrated cctv so when the alarm activates it sends pictures to a monitoring station and your smart phone. The professional installer can do almost anything with an alarm system nowadays.

On a two way system the detectors and control panel communicate with each other, the detector knows when the system is armed therefore they dont transmit detected movement when the system is unset. Two way control panels can also randomly pole the detection and if it does not receive a reply it knows it is missing. Some one way systems do have poling but this is initiated by the detector and the control panel is expecting a pole from each of the detectors within a set time period normally 24 or 12 hours. Sometimes with one way systems two detectors pole at the same time which makes the panel think that it is being compromised, or it just does not recognise the poling and goes into pole failure. I dont believe the Yale system poles at all, meaning that the panel would not know at all if the detector was missing.

He saw a picture once and thought that looks easy, Im starting a guarding company up next week how hard can that be send out a few blokes out to drive round with a flash light and reset a few alarms

The main reason nowadays is that there is no reason to use one. Its easy to get apprentices, sensible companies are proactive in that area. Recently a few big co's like Romec have let many engineers go, so the industry is awash with engineers and subbies, employers can can pick and choose, why would anyone pay for the privilege of employing an engineer. I look after the boys I have, and now my staff turnover is nothing what it was like 5 or 10 years ago.

It seems I am not as popular as you .... mind you they have to get past my Rottweiler... I mean my receptionist first

Well.....you could keep phoning with jobs that don't tick any of their boxes, that are on the other side of the country until finally they get fed up with you keep pestering them while they are trying to work and add you to the banned numbers on there phone. You did ask and that is the usual story with recruitment agencies
