  1. Unless you know the user code I would not advise you touch any of it, as its designed not to be sabotaged. But if you diss the external sounder then down power the mains to the internal panel you will achieve any immediate problems. If you decide then you would like to get it up and running then I would suggest you call an installer
  2. Another thing to bear in mind if you have a power problem when your on holiday, the council will call one of us out to disarm the system and then send you a bill for their time and the alarm co. Funnily we are discussing this very subject in the trade forums. But because the poor home owners alarm was ringing internally they will get three bills one for the locksmith one for the alarm co and the third from the environmental dept. Stitch in time, save bigger bills
  3. Covering the sensor with blutac does not tell you its the detector thas faulty, quite the opposite, you need to link the detector at the the detector if it continues to activate its not the detector, if it doesnt then it is. Currently you only know its not environmental ie something the detector wasnt seeing. It could be a whole lot of other things You dont have to replace the detector with same make but to me that looks like a Risco PIR
  4. But dont expect them to simply give out their engineers code as that will leave all their other customers vulnerable
  5. Hi Callum The only way to get the panel unlocked is to send the PCB to Gardtec. Its locked there is a clue in the name, if an engineer could unlock it it would not be locked it would just need defaulting. Though you could try leaving it in the freezer over night
  6. Problem with using the lighting circuit is that when a bulb blows it takes a trip with it
  7. Id question why would you want to, but I suppose the answer is there isnt anywhere else. Kitchens will get damp occasionally, condensation from cooking and when the kettle goes wrong, not really a good place to put a bit of electronics that could cause a whole lot of noise should it go wrong.
  8. Hi and welcome AM here, I have used Win Sims in the past and KISS but AM is good value
  9. Problem with this site is some people think its a free job site, they turn up drop an add and thats the last you see of them. The chap may be a good subbie but his attitude stinks I commented that he had missed a vital bit of info from his ad and he didnt like it. Did himself no favours with his reply. What most chaps do not realise is by participating they are actually advertising what they know, and those that are regulars will more likely to pick up work. Its always those desperately seeking subbies and those subbies desperately seeking work that never hang around, whereas I have 20 or thirty subbies I can call on, and most are regular members here that dont need to advertise.
  10. Sorry I thought you were advertising for work, seems like you were advertising to make others work. No thanks even though you cover my area youve just lost one potential customer by accusing me of being un intelligent I suppose it never crossed your mind that not everyone can see your profile
  11. You do know that how you look in the mirror is not how other people see you ?
  12. Your not that good you forgot to put the areas that you cover
  13. This is why battery manufacturers recomend they are replaced every 4 years. DIY are not going to go to the expense of buying an ACT gold meter and load test the battery every year.
  14. You're welcome Alex but I am not sure that any of us are quite that sad that we are constantly on the forum LOL. I just use my pc and occasionally my ipad, I never use the phone, its bad enough that the things constantly ringing all day long it would be far worse if I was distracted by the forum as well. Its better to use the forum as an information share, its not an instant answer thing ether, sometimes people ask a question that needs an urgent answer but its rarely answered that quickly. You will make some great friends here though, (I regard a few people on here as some of the best people you will ever meet) I would say overall we are all a friendly bunch a bit of banter but dont rise too much to it and you will be fine.
  15. Bosch is the one but read the instructions as others have said
  16. If you dont have any cables outside already then how were you expecting to use the alarm cables? In all honesty get three quotes and talk about how they installer will install the system, any installer worth his salt will work out the best way to install the system without cables all over the place. You can search using your postcode here http://www.nsi.org.uk/directory/#topformand here www.ssiab.co.uk
  17. You need either coax or twisted pair for cctv the alarm will be wired in alarm cable
  18. http://www.wakefield-security.uk/wirefree_domestic_intruder_alarm_package/index.php
  19. My works has 5 public ip's so the CCTV can go on its own IP
  20. I was right wireless only I could put a wireless network card on my dvr and connect it to the guest network I suppose
