  1. I had one of those last month, The IT guy changed the ******* password and forgot it! tried to crash it but it restored itself each time. It loaded up as default but then reverted straight away, I ****** it off in the end and told them to get the IT guy back to sort it
  2. I’ve found BT routers extremely difficult sometimes, you have applied the settings and reset the router?
  3. All electrical connection are tight? plasterboard/drilling anywhere near the panel? Power been switched off for a period of time?
  4. What kind of work? Any insulation Resistance tests carried out? sound like a dodgy power supply/transformer in the panel.
  5. Why is it unreasonable for a service provider to want an agreement in place to offer support of a particular kind?
  6. As James and Six have said, you will need to check battery and battery fuse/charging circuit. glad to hear you are recovering well. my Grandad is in a poor condition at the moment with a very poorly heart and kidneys, his outlook is very bleak.
  7. If you buy a new control panel you will still need it programmed, you have wiped the settings in the one you have and you probably have a fault in zone 6 to sort out.
  8. There’s definitely no other devices like PA buttons? It’s just stopped working suddenly one day? how old is the panel battery?

  10. Ha ha, no need too, Texe are one of the few that openly admit any issues and try to resolve quickly. real engineers upgrade firmware on site if needs be. i got no time for manufacturers that sit on issues and claim “they have never had this problem before” AKA Blagufacturers
  11. Ah right, understood
  12. Ah mate that’s a nice touch, wish I thought of that, I bet it sounds awesome with the current going through that wire, like a permanent 80’s guitar riff
  13. Agreed, temperature, dust, moisture, I’ve never put an DVR NVR in a loft or airing cupboard, Yeah that’s right, a lot of lofts are a **** mess. id be prepared to walk away, but depends on how bad the environment was, we note anything on our report job sheet that we have advised against and why
  14. Yeah it’s to keep the R1+R2 values down mate and promote “free air” for the cables, whenever I buy a 100M roll of twin and earth the first thing I do is stretch the cable to at least 120M to get my moneys worth.
  15. What security products are you fitting Jack, or used to fit?
  16. On the laptop issue, my old boss you to have quite a lot of old **** laptops, newest one was on XP but XP was great for panels ect. im still well behind the times on W7 laptop Toshiba, got it because it has serial port, bit slow but always works. For a Email/browsing laptop it is awful
  17. Arf is no longer with us :-( he was a crazy bloke with a real passion for never ending debates. but was a good guy, shame he’s gone, we all had some good laughs Mr H or Data might be able to resurrect the “kitchen” thread lol
  18. Still a shame the old Giffer isn’t around to enlighten us all though. i remember when you changed his description to something like 63 and stinks of wee, and he went ape ****, that was proper funny
