    Hi

    Hi Grant, welcome to TSI
  2. Ha ha, nice to have something like that though, something that is properly designed and not just a one fits all type install
  3. Result! sounds like the old man did a proper job with it.
  4. Nice work Gaz, would have been a few bob to get someone in. I had 3 heating engineers look at my Baxi it was only 5 years old but was working intermittently , one didn’t want to do it, one didn’t know what was wrong and the last wanted to replace the pcb. i had a little look about and found the fan pressure switch was so high res it was taking 240 in and about 160 out, got the part and swapped it (£20) and was perfect after. I wonder how they make their money?
  5. Yeah zinger tower rules! just don’t look in the kitchen :-( One had people handling raw chicken with no gloves whilst handling cooked at the same time, obviously the end result was loads of people complaining they had the banana splits. Welcome KWCFC

Nice link. is this suggesting LL fit CO detectors straight away in their properties? i still see lots with no CO detection
  7. In my opinion Alex due to the age of system ect it is nearly always more cost effective to replace all the bits with the exception of the wiring if that all tests out ok. I myself like the idea of the house and garage under one system, it means more flexibility and you will likely still pay the one maintenance charge per year. best of luck with it.
  8. Alex, The Yeti was offering a different angle to your problem. it seems that £150 budget means you will be undertaking this job yourself. It’s just not viable for a Pro company.
  9. You wouldn’t have heard of it, but it is on that list for the “least” number of reported burglaries. everywhere has MD these days, it also boasts a Starbucks And Dominos.
  10. By contrast, I’m 10 miles from Bideford. i might go get a job app for Aldi
  11. Was thinking along the lines of people wanting alarm systems, 50 miles too far?
  12. That’s good news for you Pete lol, only things getting broke into down my way is Transit vans in particular mainly plumbing and heating ones
  13. I’ve heard similar, it seems that even the shop floor workers are earning good money compared to Tesco ect. a mate of mine said his Mrs quit her bus driving job to go do checkout at Aldi as the pay and benefits were better!
  14. https://www.ecscard.org.uk/card-types/emergency-security-systems/emergency-security-systems-installer Does say you need manufacturer training Cert of some kind plus time served. i Would get to your local ADI ect and book onto the training course of your chosen manufacturer which sometimes is actually free.
  15. Haddon, that doesn’t sound right to me, have you specifically had this convo with ECS? i know a lot of engineers who have sweet FA in terms of qualification but still get the blue ECS card, due to evidence of time served in the industry (which you have a lot of!)
  16. Lol @ Norm. What agencies do you refer too mountianrider?
  17. I think they sound more like retards than gangsters. but I also find it funny
  18. Reversing the loop is what C-Tech have asked also, so where there is an “open circuit” you can learn up to a certain point (say the 11th device) then swap the loop cables around and learn the loop from the other direction to see where it stops (say up to 12) you would then know that 11 or 12 or both were the culprit. let us know how you get on
  19. Do you have any I/O units on the loop? they have built in isolators (Hochiki) I thought all the new Hochiki MCP’s do as well? (They may not but the ones I’ve ordered do)
  20. Never seen one of those! you would be better off looking to replace.
  21. Lol nice. i had one of those lovely motors. on the way home from buying the car.... the window wiper fuse blew on the M5 in pouring rain the car overheated in traffic as fan switch was faulty then the exhaust fell off 300M from Home. never seen my dad so happy and histerically laughing. Loved drashing it round the lanes though.
  22. Most domestics would be 8 zones or less generally. in relation to defaulting ect, providing you did the default correctly I would suggest either 1. It was locked 2. Panel has done something odd. either way that’s not going to help you now, panels can do some odd stuff especially when back up batteries are depleted and being defaulted ect. i have seen some panels not recover from defaulting. good luck with your quotes
  23. I know a “honey expert” he runs his own business, he told me it’s best to buy honey that is garaunteed to come from the same hive/set of bees and not honey that is a mixture of all different producers and hives. He said some other **** too but I glazed over at that point. at £50 I will stick to marmalade lol. out of interest Is it worth the £50?
