honeywell alarm zone problem
When supplied, all 8 zones and the tamper connections should be linked out with a small silver wire. So the terminals of zone 1 would have a link, same for zone 2 etc. Make sure that these are all in place. If you connected the PIR to zone 1 remove the wires & fit a link in their place, do the same with the tamper connections. Now close the lid and try to set the system, if it sets now then you have a problem with the wiring. If the panel won't set like this, you may have a faulty panel. Unusual for ADE.

The wire (usually black) at the end of the connector block is from the onboard battery as SWB says. The wire goes to the terminal marked Batt LK, at the right hand end of the block.

Looking at the technical manual, as James says you should remove the link. Also it shows a white wire link above the terminal block, when this is connected the sounder will run for 5 seconds. To get the correct 15 minutes, the wire should be cut. If the sounder still won't activate check the R- terminal, this should be taken negative in alarm.

Tone Testers
Hi Al: I used to use ideal testers and never had a problem with them, but this is nowhere like them. Yes mate, it's blue in colour.

Tone Testers
Hey Mr H, Don't have a link for it unfortunately but it's the ideal abs tone thrower and probe. It was only a cheap thing where I bought it but apparently they're normally about £70, so would have expected more. Probably something else where production has been transferred to Asia.

Tone Testers
Well the Ideal abs arrived and have to say: I'm totally underwhelmed with it, nothing like Ideal stuff I've used in the past. This feels cheap & nasty, more like a kids toy to be honest. The tone generator or thrower as they call it uses a non standard battery which will be a pain, luckily the seller put new batteries in so I was able to try it out. Definitely not impressed, you have to be almost on top of the cable to be able to use the tracer. Not had a chance to try the butt test side yet but will give it a try on the weekend and hope that works better.

Accenta 7 quick power cut alarm/then no status lights?
Think that's customers everywhere nowadays Peter. If you installed their system for free they'd still find something to complain about, or half the cheeky sods would ask for a backhander to let you do it. I find the more money they've got, the worse they are.

Al: Your another man after my own heart. I always fit at least 1, nice loud internal sounder on domestics. Strange how scroats don't like it when their ears bleed Lol. Wouldn't have helped in this instance but I'm a great believer in good security lighting as well, especially at the sides and backs of buildings. Thieving scum hate bright lights.

Accenta 7 quick power cut alarm/then no status lights?
Yep but compared to the number of alarms fitted, the percentage that do keep ringing is miniscule.

Accenta 7 quick power cut alarm/then no status lights?
Hi Jez: No it shouldn't continue running, it should cut off once the 20 minutes timer is up. He would have changed the battery with the panel still powered from the mains, it's something most engineers are taught to do. The battery charge voltage and current should have been checked to ensure that the charge circuit is functioning correctly and that the faulty battery hadn't damaged the circuit.

Hi James, Sorry buddy: Yes I know what it means, I was just wondering why you were asking.
-
Accenta 7 quick power cut alarm/then no status lights?
Agreed, it's surprising how many don't take the extra little bit of time to do it. Don't know if they've never been taught the importance of testing or are just too lazy to be honest.
