Replacement for gardtec 840 alarm
Sorry mate, but if you don't plan on doing it yourself then why are you asking about panels etc ? Each Installer will have their own preferred brand of panels and will happily tell you what is needed for the job, you'll rarely find an installer that will fit customer specified panels. I certainly wouldn't. As I already said, contact some local installers and discuss with them.

Test (Butt) phone
God, I haven't seen or Installed foil on glass for more years thank care to remember. But your right it's well proven and when Installed properly, does a good job. It's like batten, tube and lace, not used now but did an excellent job for many years. Jeeze my age is showing, I can still remember the first time I helped install it.

Replacement for gardtec 840 alarm
To be honest a panel for that size system would be a Professional panel & would be better being Installed, Programmed and tested by a skilled alarm engineer. It really isn't in any way a DIY job. You would be best contacting a couple of good local installers for prices.

Test (Butt) phone
They can still come in handy at times, especially if you install telephone extensions as well or for quick testing when you run a line from the master to some out of the way cupboard with the panel in.

No idea Mr H, but you know what BT are like: Their kit, their rules. Stop being so posh James, just hang your phone off a D ring on your Toolbag like the rest of us .

Test (Butt) phone
Yeah I know mate, it's just one more thing to carry (read as forget) ;-). Can't even remember where my 290 is. If I find it, I might chuck a filter in my Toolbag & try using that. At least they're pretty bomb proof.

Test (Butt) phone
Yep had mine for years & used regularly, until BT warned that we weren't to use them on digital lines. Apparently if you go off hook with them on a Digital line, you can take the line down. So I got the 300 to replace it, the ACT was an eBay buy as a cheap backup.

Test (Butt) phone
Hey al: That looks like a Besson 290. Excellent phone in their day but sadly not digital safe, i had one of those for years. Bought a BT Tele 300a to replace it, again a great phone & pretty rugged. Sadly some scumbag nicked it. Have the ACT meters mini DSP phone at the minute, does the job but very lightweight and not particularly durable. Thanks Mr H: That's the one I've got at the moment but from ACT & as above, does the job but just not rugged enough. Think they were originally made by Greenlee.

Just wondering if anyone else carries one & which one you use ?.

Honeywell Accenta G4
No problems buddy, glad it seems to have worked for you. If you have any other problems with it, feel free to come back and ask again. There's always someone floating around to help out. Just one thing that's a bit concerning, where is your battery ?. Seems to be missing from your panel, without the battery you have no protection if you have a power cut. Andy

Honeywell Accenta G4
Hi Muhammad: Sorry buddy bit hard to tell from the picture, if the fuse has just opened: No globs of metal visible and no Blackening of the glass, you may have been lucky and it died due to ageing. It would be a good idea to gently squeeze the ends of the Fuse holder together slightly to make sure it makes good contact with the fuse, a loose fuse holder can sometimes kill off a fuse early. If the fuse hasn't blown again since fitting the replacement, you may be ok. I would suggest doing a test on your outside siren though, just to make sure it still works ok. Andy

New keypad
Went bust would explain things, good luck to them if they managed to claw some money back. The panels seemed to work ok, were they made by MDT ? they seem to be very much like an optima compact I saw. Wouldn't mind having the panel to play with buddy, thanks. Let me know how much you want for it ?.

New keypad
Just wondered if you had & what your impressions were. As I say I found them very cramped, especially if you used all zones. Any idea what happened to MDT ?.
-
New keypad
Firm I worked for many moons ago installed a few of them in corner shops, can't say I liked them. They were just way too cramped inside.

New keypad
You ever used any of the MDT panels James ?.

Aah now I know why I've never met her, She's posh totty for the horsey set. Like your choice of panels, I've used both to good effect.

New keypad
That one was the first I've used & it was a quick and easy install for the panel, it's pre programmed for most small domestic installs so little to change. Programming is easy & as I said it proved reliable, think it was in about 8 years total & all it needed was normal yearly service. Suppose it's a bit like people's view on the Logic 4, a lot of people hated them. But I never had any problems with them. I've got one still in daily use, again in a small garage & it's worked faultlessly for 20 years.

New keypad
Now, now: I did say for DIY. Having said that, I installed one in a mates garage a few years back & it never gave a minutes trouble. Went off on a couple of occasions when he had scroats trying to break in, so did what it was meant to. Never met this Chlamydia girl, from down your way is she ? ;-)

New keypad
Blimey, not much more & you'd get a new G4 with LCD keypad. Nice easy DIY swap out.

New keypad
I think you'll be lucky to find parts for it now, it wouldn't cost that much to fit a new panel and keypad. Why does the lid keep popping off, is the little securing screw missing ?.
