Hello there, I just stumbled upon this site by accident and figured it was a great place to chat with other alarm geeks and maybe help out the occasional alarm system user. As my blatantly large signature indicates, I own an alarm company in the Vancouver BC area. Business over here is fairly brisk as the interest rates are creating a booming housing industry. Of course this mean costs are rising, probably a short term thing though... hopefully too many people don't loose their shorts when the market takes a dumper, particularly after the Olympics. It's amazing how a few days can make everyone so coo coo for coco puffs. , Heinz

Hi to all. Firstly, I haven't really a clue about alarm systems so please excuse my ignorance. I recently moved into a house with a Scantronic 9200 system. Last week during working hours there was a brief local power cut & my neighbour told me the alarm (although unset) went off & was ringing for approx 20 mins (it makes a heck of a noise). Didn't touch it afterwards as I didn't know if anything needed doing to it. Last night when we were out with the alarm unset, it apparently went off twice. Does anyone know what the problem might be ? I am happy to get someone round to check/service it - I just haven't a clue what might need to be done & whether a ca…

Hi All My name is Ken. I spent 17 years in the British Army as a Radar Engineer (Apprentice trained). I then spent 2 years in the Middle East installing and commissioning radar systems. On my return to UK I spent 2 years with BT as a T2 before joining a UK company with whom I spent 10 years in the Middle East employed on high value turnkey security systems, one of which was to UK MOD standards. I was employed installing, commissioning and eventually consultancy. Experienced was gained (sounds like a CV eh?) in perimeter detection using various methods e.g. Microwave, IR, VMD, CCTV etc. Until recently I was employed installing and commissioning live fire and computer c…

Hi All , I've just joined the forum and don't have much experience in CCTV apart from common sense and the ability to understand things of a technical nature. I run a custom installation business and look forward to being tutored through the expertise and experience of the members of this forum. Hopefully, I too can make contributions to help others. Regards Abay

We have an 8 year old Accenta alarm system on a 3 bed room bungalow with connecting door to garage. We have exits through front, back and garage door each with a keypad. The installer has now retired and we have no appointed installer. We have recentlly installed a power closer on the up and over garage door and need to reset the entry delay so that we can open the garage door, drive into the garage, get out of the car and walk over to the alarm pad and enter the code to cut off the alarm. The alarm time is currently 20 seconds. How does one reset the exit/entry timer delay, please?
