Hi everyone, this is my introduction to the site as well as my question. I am 25 years old and I have been working in central Scotland within the security systems industry for the past eight years now, within all areas from installation, preventative/corrective maintenance and design of intruder, fire, cctv and access control systems. Having mainly worked for smaller companies (in which I always feel my worth) I have found my experience grow rapidly due to many variables, mostly you just get sent to any system (whether you've seen it before or not). At the moment I now work for a large company based in Stirling who, have set up a security department within an already es…

Thought it's only right to say hello to you all. Just a little about me: I've been in the security business for well over 20 years - mainly domestic (dare I say it...started on the very original version 1 optima! ) and some smaller commercial work. I now have three "arms" to the security work I do, but to be honest none is now full time any more. I do freelance work for two electrical businesses, as well as some of the servicing from former customers who have my contact details. Depending on how my current business goes, I might one day return full time to the security business as I have had some great times - and I'm fortunate that my reputation still creates a s…

My names Pete, ive been in the fire industry for 8 years now with general electrics and pump and control work being a small portion of my work. I have in the past worked for one of the largest alarm companies in the UK, then moved to the smallest and im now somewhere in between. Many people say they hate their jobs but i love it, new faces, new sites and bigger and better challenges all the time. Oh and eh im young compared to a few in here. We can play the guess my age game if you like? Ah stuff it, im…

Hello I have just joined. I moved into this house in Guildford over a year ago. There is an Optima plus installed which the owners said wasn't working. I intended to have it fixed at some point. However, today it started bleeping (not the actual burglar alarm, just a bleep). As if the battery is low, like on a smoke detecter. Trouble is, I can't work out how to remove the panel to change the battery, if that is the problem. And I don't know where in the house the alarm is powered from. The owners have not left manual or code. The bleeping is driving me mad - can anyone help?? Many thanks.
