Hello all, I have a Scantronic 9651 home alarm which has been running reliably for many years, recently we had some work done and one of the builders cut a cable to one of the motion sensors, I have since replaced the sensor, the cut wire had also caused a fuse to blow, so I have replaced both the 1amp fuses on the circuit board. I have the user code and the engineers code but now the system is showing Zone flt and goes through all zones 1-5 and therefore won't come out of installer mode?!? Does anyone have any suggestion please? Thank you, Zach.

Hi All, I’m new here and a fraud as I don’t install security alarms but came across your forum when searching Radiovisor. I’ve just picked up from a house clearance sale two intriguing wall mounted Radiovisor devices that seem to use infrared and I wanted to try and find out their original application. I will try and attach pictures but they are both around 6” square and 4” deep, one having a single lens and one having twin lenses. They are badged “Radiovisor” and inside have the type BA500T. They appear to be from the 1930-40 era but bear no dates. Can anyone give me any clues as to where they would have been used and what for as I’m intrigued by them? They’re goin…

Hi everyone just joined to hopefully get a problem solved, My real name is Tom and I've been a plumber all my working life and during that time fitted a couple of alarm systems to my own homes but, This one has me beat, Its a scantronic 9448 with a SDR-WEXT-00 Bell box and when I powered it up, The tamper light on the key pad is on, So I checked all the tamper loops and they are closed, They are the PIR's, bell box, I've not fitted a tamper to the door sensors, but the light stays on and so the alarm cannot be set, The leds in the bell box are flashing blue and I've posted a vid, Can someone tell me what I' missed ? thanks in advance

I have just found this forum and, having joined, wanted to send greetings from Yorkshire in the UK. I have a Menvier TS700 which, whilst running well, has developed a display fault with the LED readout on one of our two remote keypads. I installed the system myself over 22 years ago. In those days (2002), the Menvier system was seen as almost an industry standard. With the help of a friendly local alarm component supplier, I purchased the parts that I needed and carefully installed the system and it has worked perfectly since then. I managed to source a used replacement TS700 remote keypad but, when I swapped them over, I got a busy display on the read out. Th…

Hi everyone - Longtime lurker, but decided to register and interact. Intruder, Fire, Networking, and Telecoms enthusiast who often considers if I should be on the ground more and in the office less, but ultimately I just allow my enthusiasm for these systems to mannifest in my home life and those of friends and family who indulge my hobbies. I work in the protection of CNI (Critical National Infrastructure) which is fun and interesting. I think in part my work has reflected in my often over-engineering in my home setup / playground. At home I use a Texecom wired alarm, grade 3 install, SP4 signalling via Redcare Ultimate. I did the inst…

Hello from California! I'm a microwave/RF engineer by trade, I've installed Ademco systems for myself and for friends, as well as the 900MHz (USA) Alarmnet digital polled radio backup to dialup or multiplexed leased lines. Alarms are NOT part of my job, but from what I learned programming the Ademco equipment, I never saw a configuration for a heartbeat pulse signal monitor from other 3rd party equipment. I have a dilemma on how to accomplish this - my customer has 3 electrical devices that by law here must be monitored for failure of the safety device itself. The device does this by providing a roughly 1 blink per second green LED to communicate its status…

Hello to all. I used to be in the fire and security industry many years ago and evolved my career into IT security. Recently due to the overwhelming amount of shockingly bad residential security systems available on the market I have have decided to re-enter the industry to educate the consumer and provide genuine fit for purpose solutions. I have noticed that the Honeywell Galaxy systems I used to install in many years ago are still deployed in the field so on the surface at least not much seems to have changed in the commercial space. Let the fun begin ?

Hello everyone, I joined this site on my search for a cctv installation course. I currently work in the security industry for a company that specialises in wireless monitored alarm systems and I'm looking to expand my knowledge by sitting a cctv training course. If anyone has sat or knows of a course that would be suitable for a complete novice? Something that will give me adequate knowledge in the design installation and maintenance. I have been looking at the TAVCOM 5 day course but have been reading in reviews that the btec lvl3 qualification they give may not be recognised by some governing bodies. Not sure how true this is?
