Im electrical engineer now specialising in the field of Security systems. In the past 4 years I have been working with DSC and Paradox Alarm panels, Position and Hundure(based) Access Control systems and large variety of Fire Alarm and CCTV systems. Reading this forum I was suprised when I see people mad at regulations and inspections. They should come and work here(Macedonia). There is no such thing as Security Regulations, not even on a Governmet level, which makes difficult to work if you are company with trained presonnel and you have invested in proffesinalisam. People that have watched how their alarm system is installed, go and install their neighbour's Alarm fo…

Hello, Been scanning around the forums a while now, reading the jokes, reading some of the support stuff. Names Gordon, I answer to G-man or Gopher as well, I work for a small Alarm / CCTV company based near Alloa in Central Scotland doing all the Technical Support for our engineers and customers, be it the ye olde Diplomat system to 8136's to Optima G3's and many Alarm Panels in between. Im the one that attempts to find the manual, decypher it and then pass it on to the enigneers to they can fix the system quick smart. It's fun and interesting. I also get my mitts on the kit that's going out to our customers first to do our on QC /benchtesting on the alarm panels and…

Hullo. I'm a Security professional! Well, ok, actually in a rather different sense than many of yourselves - I work in IT security, not alarms and CCTV - but it seems to me that many of the concepts are the same. In this field I'm very much a DIYer though. I have a Melcom ST6100 alarm with a K6600 remote LCD keypad (waiting for melcom to replace this with a new panel they promised me last November - they're working on a software update ), and an SD2 text and speech dialer (damn nice piece of kit). I also run an old laptop (built in UPS) as my home server, with home broadband and emergency GSM network connections, where the outputs from the SD2 go. Nothing set up the…
