I've just moved in and the person living there before installed the alarm back in 1997. i rang the company that installed the alarm but it doesn't exist!

NO don't open the panel as it will cause a tamper and without your user code you will not stop it sounding,

but more importantly you will expose yourself to lethal voltage potential or a falling battery landing on you foot.. who knows how well your system was installed?

find or wait for a local firm to respond and stay safe
