Just tipping my hat and saying hi. 18 months in the trade as a service eng for a national firm (clue is in the screen name ) covering the very far frozen north. Mostly doing intruder with the odd bit of cctv (the colour picture is a real novelty), access is very thin on the ground and moving into fire shortly. Feel like I'm starting to get a handle on most of the stuff but you can never know too much so hopefully you folk will be able to fill in the gaps. My previous is nearly 25 years in electronics and telecoms with the countrys No1 air to ground expolsive ordinance delivery company.

Hullo, As you can tell, my name's Phil and I'm a newbie here. I'm a recent addition to the CCTV world, started working for Dedicated Micros in Manchester about 2 months ago. I come from a Telecoms/IT bacground so this is a huge change. Slowly learning the differences between the 15 different variants of Digital Sprite 2 Interested in all aspects of security, makes life so much easier when you understand what a customer wants to do rather than having to ask every few seconds - "Sooo, what's one of them then?".

Well, I'm sttiing here surrounded by builders (new extention being built) so I decided to get away and explore thise site. Posted a few times. Very helpful replies ... thanks all. Me? Former electronics engineer in a former life. One of my main hobbies ... building PCs and fixing them up when they get infected with malware of various kinds. I help out on some other "malware removal" sites. Anyone infected with stuff they don't want and didn't ask for? Let me know and I'll see what I can do to help.

Hello, My names Neal and living in Burnley, Lancashire. I had my own security business, NP Security Services based in my town which did well for a short time but I lacked the confidence to ring people and sell myself! I had experience in the security side, not the selling side. I decided to give it all up and just focus on promotion in security with an established and decent company. Anyhow, working for a very good company now and prospects good so see how things go.

Adam, 19, Lincoln In more detail: Finished school last year with A levels, had planned to get an apprenticeship to train as a sparky, unfortunaly due to the rareity of them it didn't happen , still, looking at going to college next year to do C+G 2330, and then get some onsite experience by offering to work free of charge and go from there. Anyway, I'm here because this industry interests me as well, I guess eventually it would be nice to work for a company that did both alarms and electrics, but if I had to pick one, its electrics I really want to train for and get into. Oh, and I might be seeking a bit of DIY advice about the alarm at home
