Replace Paragon plus with new version

Recommended Posts

I am looking to replace a Paragon plus alarm with a newer model, currently looking at the Pyronix Euro 46, or Texecom Veritas excel

In regards to the Pyronix, is this simple enough to do for DIY installer as there are limited instructions online, can you still use the home control app? or do you need to be a registered installer? On one of the sites there is a product recall, (*currently stock delays due to a software issue recall), therefore should you steer clear from these

Which sites for which panel?

So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands

Well, I would probably rather steer clear of a manufacturer who doesn't recall stuff and pretends it's all fine, than one who does.

Is the keypad on the panel or is it a remote keypad version

It has the keypad on the panel and there is a remote key pad

If you go Texecom then use a Premier 24 Poly not an Excel

Thanks, i will look into this one.

Do you use the remote keypad the most or the panel keypad the most

We will be using the keypad the most as the panel is hidden

The excel is probably a better panel for a DIYer as it doesn't use EOL.

you can wire a excel, euro or premier eol if desired...

Does any one know if there should be any issues with using the paragon wiring and external siren with the Pyronix Euro 46 (Note i do not want to use EOL for ease of fitting) . And when you purchase the Pyronix does it come with full instructions as there are limited downloads on the internet

Yes the 46 includes the install, programming and user guide

Your bell box should be compatable  (you can attach a picture if you want so i can verify that it is compatable)

I believe the recall was for communication to ARC (alarm receiving centre)

Thanks for the info, I will get a picture tomorrow.

I assume the recall was just a firmware update in the end?

Do you believe the PIR's should be OK?

Hi Logan

I have attached the bell box picture, I want to use this to start, with the aim of replacing it later in the year.

1 other question, do you need to be an installer to use the home control app on Pyronix?

Ventcroft primia 2  yes it is compatible but i recommend you replace it as its 20+ years old but its up to you if it still works

Heres a suitable Replacement

You can download the home control app without needing to be a engineer

Thanks Logan, yep was going to replace, just waiting for summer to change.

Can you resend the link for a suitable replacement.

Im not really a fan of new elmdene (since when they moved to Chinese production)

The pic is a pre phone day Elmdene Prima

Phone day was in 1995,

I fail to see why anyone would want to retain a knacked old alarm box even "until the summer"

I am looking to upgrade to Euro 46, reviewed all the instructions. However before i start tampering with the old setup. what is the best way to remove old panel without triggering the external siren. I do not have the engineers code and one of the external sirens is difficult to access at this moment

Disconnect mains and leave dangling on the side with battery inside

Or just take it off and let it bell for 20mins
