Discreet Outdoor IP Camera

Featured Replies

Hello:

I'm a beginner when it comes to CCTV/IP cameras and could do with some recommendations on buying two IP cameras for the outside of my home.

One will be for the front garden and another for the rear alley/access way to the home.

I need them to be as discreet/covert as possible therefore something small in size I can hide and IR illumination that isn't visible to anyone approaching (940nm?) either on the camera or separate illuminator(s).

I do not need PTZ.

The front garden camera needs something in the region of 100 degree viewing angle while the rear alley is a narrow view. Both need to monitor a distance up to approx 20 metres.

It needs to cope with UK weather.

I would prefer to transmit the signal via a LAN cable and use Power over Ethernet, but if I had to run a separate line for power then I can work with that. I don't think wireless is going to be reliable as the signal isn't fantastic outside.

The intention is to live view the video feeds on occasions (eg if I happen hear something suspicious outside) but also have my NAS record on movement.

I feel confident on seting up the network, live viewing app and my NAS to record, I'm just clueless about the IP camera / illumination side of things.

I'm also on a tight budget :/

Any recommendations for the right kit I can buy in the UK to meet my needs?

Thank you

Total tat chinglish manual etc... but I'm secretly impressed by these at the price...

(Was sent one on Amazon Vine for free btw, that's how I know about them)

The menus ONLY work via IE, but they are extensive and support ONVIF and everything....

Would I fit them for a proper customer? Probably not.

Would I recommend them to a friend for DIY? Possibly.

So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands

To be fair I skim read the OP knowing the spec would end in 'and costs £29.99 from ebay' ;)

True.

i want a new range rover with most of the options ticked. I'm happy to spend almost £200 a month.

Any recommendations?
