MJE Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Hello All quick question that I cant find anywhere can someone confirm that door contacts are supposed to be "closed" when the magnet is attached I have a galaxy intruder panel i'm installing and everything is set up apart from the door contact as its working in the opposite way i want it to it is saying door open when closed and only sets if the door is open it has the supplied EOL resistor across it (1K) and is set to 1k in the panel I cant find any option to change it in the panel, i know it will be so something so obvious just wanted to make sure before i buy another contact thanks
MJE Posted June 3, 2015 Author Posted June 3, 2015 it was just listed as Surface Mounted Brown Door Contact D20B http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Surface-Mounted-Brown-Door-Contact-D20B-/260962904492?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3cc299e9ac
al-yeti Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 You probably havnt seen the problem correctly , what's the full log say when your setting Are using an exit time?
tismemike Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 The eBay description is "normally closed" To my way of thinking that means the contact is closed without any outside influence (eg magnet). When the magnet is adjacent to the contact, the contact will open.
Adi Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Meant for door alarms i reckon. I really can't be ar**** with it anymore.

datadiffusion Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Yes, Knights do certain ones as NO So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands
Rulland Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Yep use them a lot on nurse call systems for door monitoring.
JB_ Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 it has the supplied EOL resistor across it (1K) and is set to 1k in the panel Is that a single resistor? It should have 2 fitted typically if each sensor is on its own circuit.(1 inline with the door reedswitch and another across the reed switch) If you have installed only the 1 resistor 'across' it then with the door open it would show tamper and stop you arming, but with the door open it would show healthy and allow you to set. Just a thought.
