  1. You've got absolutely no chance. You either know the answer to the original post or you don't.. come to that, even if I bothered to upload you would still call me a liar and a blagger with the photos staring you in the face... and I very rarely stoop to using four core, but there again you would call me a liar on that one as well.
  2. Should find what you're looking for with Spike. Failing that, you could fit a standard door contact and add your own 100 ohm resistors. Have you considered this route ?
  3. Can't see any photos Barnsley, have you uploaded any ?
  4. Ref; twelve core; Think I'll double up on the cores to make a six core and see if I can get ten ohms that way.
  5. "..The original installation company is SSAIB(UKAS) accredited, but it seems he doesn't know the system as well as he should..." Think I'd better stick to 'reputable' then Lwillis, under the circumstances. "...I'm not worried about someone cutting the line, but I wanted to know what would happen if there was a fault with the line while the system was armed..." Can't tell you on open forum, but be assured that any 'reputable' engineer will give you the answer on a face to face basis. If it were a system installed by someone else in my own home I would most definitely be worried "..about someone cutting the line.."
  6. "...There are no resistors fitted in anything else do I need to fit them on the door contacts..." If there are no resistors fitted to any other detection devices at this panel, it is conventional wiring and you should not fit resistors to any added devices unless it is specified by the manufacturer of that added device. "...both of the contacts have a metal sleeve on the cable..." Follow Alyeti's advice and use junction boxes to connect into circuit. "..2 red and 2 white on each of the contacts .." Subject to the approval of Spike try two whites as alarm wires and two reds as tamper..if the panel indicates a fault try the opposite.. two reds to alarm, two whites to tamper. Don't cut off the remaining 2 cores of the six core cable, terminate them at the junction boxes, they may be needed in the future (however, I am open to further correction from Spike).
  7. ".....Have you tried going into engineering via the keypad..." That's worth a try, but given the young age of the panel and Texecom confirming a fault, might as well change it for new under the guarantee.
  8. "........the texecom panel has a onboard expander that can be fitted in side the panel so it will give him 16 zones..." That sounds good to me, WDT.. worth considering.
  9. I reckon Arf is still here. got that feeling.
  10. have you fed my MD to the Pirates yet by the way?... Cheese toastie anyone?... brown sauce on mine...Munter...BBQ then? If these are clues to Arf then it is something to do with food... fed, cheese, brown sauce, Munter?, BBQ... Arfur is or was a cook of some description !!
  11. Pyronix Belle ? They both look exactly the same to me. Either Gardtec has swiped the design or vice versa. Isn't there copyright or patent or something on the designs ?
  12. Not exactly cluedo is it ? What has a dot com got to do with poor old Arfur ? .... but I'm getting warmer.
  13. I'm following the clues.... slowly.
  14. Didn't Modern use something similar to the Eurobell at one time ?
  15. And anyway.. if you don't mind, my name is Arf..someone has conveniently tagged it to my posts..Who was this famous Arf you all talk about ?
  16. I give up Goncall, what's the reference to the cooker, is it something to do with eggs ?
  17. Don't 'egg Norman on' Goncall, I'm already thinking of backing out.
  18. Is there anything wrong with the term 'reputable' ? I'll change it if there is.
  19. Well done, we know where to come for advice. What do you do for a living anyway ? you're obviously not a nine till fiver.
  20. Yes, yes, I do. It's not cheap at £52 or so when it was zilch at one time. And your comment "...why should the public pay for the police time for admin alarms?.." is bordering on a highly controversial political topic..so force me to go there if you want a political debate on policing, police funding, the difference between a policeman and a police officer (yep ! there's a difference).. you might as well ask "..why should the public pay for two officers to visit a luxury resort, sun themselves all day and clock off at ten when the pubs are opening ?" or " How much is a police and crime commisionner earning ?". Politics, History and Law..my pet subjects..up to you really, go down that route if you want.
  21. It makes a lot of sense WDT, I would have nothing against that set-up, but Oldguy is pretty fixed on his desire to bring everything back to the panel on it's own cable..and to be honest, despite my previous suggestions (which don't fit the bill) I'm thinking that the galaxy route (with just one expander possibly)would not only cover his immediate needs but also allow for any future additions. Good call though, I like it.
  22. Come on Norman ! I know you better than that, I am not even going into my usual 'define plethora' mode because you know and I know that it does not. It's a URN and assuming that you pass that cost directly from the customer to the police then they are making a fortune out of a few letters/numbers flicked out of a computer with a press of the 'return' button.
  23. Well said Lwillis, should have phoned a reputable when the problem first emerged.
  24. "...to be honest I've always thought Charlie was an old member under a different guise..." Why on earth would you think that..or better..What on earth gives you that impression? "..Alarm goes off, signalling device send message to ARC, ARC then pass the URN to the Police, no address or anything just the URN.." And the customer pays fifty two quid (or thereabouts) so that the police can know his/her address..the customer never uses a URN, never has, wouldn't know one if it hit him/her on the head and at the most it's no more than 6 digits if that... A total rip off...at one time there was no charge whatsoever.. "..But going of your posts above, i think you have some knowledge and are not letting on.." Verry...Ve..rr.rr..yy..limited knowledge I'm afraid, that's why I'm here..to learn off experts like yourself.
