  1. I may have miss read I thought someone was trying to use a 7ah SLA battery with a split charge. Speed reading not my thing Also if you try hard enough you can sqeeze a 019 battery on a renault traffic or vauxhall vivaro but i wouldn't bother I fitted an AGM 096 it is a better battery. My wifes focus ST has one on now as well. I am with AGM like people are with galaxy As for the loom, You could use a relay to make sure you don't over load the circuit, loom or the BCM ( french call it UCH but it the same thing) But like you said take the bulb out and make sure the current is the same or less and the will be no fear of an over load. If you do use a relay it may show a fault in the diagnostics in BCM The other option is buy a new ford transit custom with dual battery that self jump starts it self and had led lights already fitted in the back ha ha Eco mode is to stop you making the battery flat, It maybe should be called wally mode but its not fool proof
  2. Hi As led's use very low current and if the van and battery are in good shape and is a 096 battery which most renault nissan and vauxhall vans are the ah rating is up near 60 to 70ah and a led strip uses little current but you could measure it to see the amout it uses. how long will they be on with out the engine running. Also I suspect even using a split charge relay with a alternator able to push out 90-150 amps will damage the battery. I would buy a proper charger for that type off battery even if its one that plugs in to the 12v socket on your van. A quick fact if you use jump leads from a car to a motorbike battery with the car running it will damage the bike battery. ( I supect the same will happen to a security battery ) If it was me I would fit the led's and connect up but use the main battery power and possible up grade the van battery to a AGM 096 these have about 800 amp cranking power and 90ah. I will be amazed if you even make it go flat with just an led strip running at 1/2 amp looking quickly at a set i found
  3. It is very likly I was going back to october 94, My mate who works for the fire service got a call to an AFA one night to find the smoke was coming from the fire alarm control panel, It was working to the death as it did have the bells ringing and did send info to control centre you cannot ask for more then that.
  4. Wow This was the first alarm I ever fitted in my mums house, The house had a fire in the living room one night, I had fitted smoke sensor to it, glad I did or i might not be typing to you now. I still remember hearing the external sounder pulsing as the fire service where trying to stop the bleeding from my arm. I did learn something that night arm and glass is very bad but the heat from a fire very very warm. Also make sure electric fire is off in living room before bed P.s the keypad got a bit hot in the fire and didn't work after. I know this don't help but brought back some memorys. I hope every one on here has tested the smoke alarms at 2am in the morning they do work.

    Hello

You are right a big client base should make all the cost of the building and equipment work out cheaper per customer. The M.O.T helps get cars back to minimum standard but sometimes that just makes the car become a scrap as they say we only paid £500 for the car. Some people will spend the money and they are good to keep

    Hello

Hi Peter I have seen you mate's Ian's company as he has an install near me which has been tested by some naughty people who come after dark and removed stuff with out the owners permission. I only know this as it's near a garage I deal with sometimes and the said company was having a new roller shutter due to unexpected entry Is Ian on here.

    Hello

Hi Peter I would say a lot of services, even more so now as the parts suppliers are now selling parts at almost the same price as the trade plus tools and equipment that always seems to be out of date or is 1500 pounds a year for updates. Plus also the I have a mate that can do that. or the fast fit places doing service for £99 " Shame they don't change oil filters which should be done every time but i won't point fingers or name names" All the above sound the norm for you as well Ok moan over

    New Laptop

the toughbooks are good they do a cf-72 ( with a cd drive built in ) which is bigger and tougher then a normal laptop also has a serial port built in. The cf-18 has been retired but there is cf-19 out there. The only trouble i can see with toughbooks if you drop it on a tiled floor you are going to break the tile before the laptop
  11. Modern cars use Canbus and that is one of the 5 protocols there are 4 other protocols pre canbus. There is a new version called linbus on its way into new cars for faster control. But for people wanting to know how each ecu talks just think of a galaxy control talking to keypads and rio's I.e pos + and Neg - to each control plus a data signal transmit and return. Lets take a modern door control module electric windows electric locking. when you press the electric window button the control picks up a circuit change from open to closed ( no resistors unless you have a two stage switch for one touch up ) that control then tells the motor to go up. Thats like telling a alarm output that if door 1 is open turn on output 1 On the same way if you plug in a diagnostic tool and tell the door module to open the window you can ( unless it's broken ) there are also some cars being remote diagnosed using gprs like you have been able to do for years with alarms
  12. I am gutted its too small to read but I think if i could read it i would be lost on what pcon 64 ment
  13. Or buy the grade 2 door contacts with grey resistors
  14. I like that. Confirmed flood, First alarm your be alright in shoes second you will need a wet suit.
  15. I have an old pc setup with win XP and montex/texbase on it with a ups power supply I rent an area down a local farm about 2 miles from my house and this has a premier 48 panel with a gsm module setup and a fixed IP sim card, All events come though to the pc and then intruder ones email me the rest are just set to let me know whats gone on in the day.
  16. I wish it would make a Siren type nosie for intruder alarms and just the bing noise for low pri messages.
  17. I use montex/texbase which is ok but the email does take a few mins to come though sometimes to my mobile phone.
  18. I would consider put Zone 5 in soaktest which will still show on the control thats it been tripped but with out the internal sounder.
  19. I am with these two what if you turn it off and there is a boiler fault. I would get a Stand alone CO detector from a good DIY store and put in the same room and see if it also goes off, If it does you have a boiler problem, Have you and your family felt ok and no head aches tiredness or any other simptoms.
  20. I bet the user code was 4949 or 9494
  21. I just found one on ebay whole control panel Item number 311214796377
