  1. I don't want an Iphone but light up bell boxes could work on the upside I might turn to a life of crime if all i have to do is switch of the power to get passed the plugged in super beams. Is the bell box plugged in as well
  2. I hope we are not going to start on the cheap 12 core cable, But it did give me a laugh and give me something to read everynight
  3. This is what I got told the other day is the CIE to be installed in the protected area, not visable from outside of the protected premises. Someone did ask about combined keypad and CIE and was told this would be ok to fit on entry route but is down to the risk assessment. I assume its in the BSEN50131 or PD6662 but looking at at lest two places i have been in one CIE was mounted above the entrance door with the keypad next to the door. and the other was mounted on the right hand wall as you go in with the keypad on the left. So i would think this might be something thats been put in to the regs in the last few years. But I could be wrong and shot down in flames and buried alive.
  4. I like the online idea a pound a month that 12pound per year, every person, every year, and is kept updated. you could have a trade and public account if you are worried trade only info might fall into the wrong hands. Some people could choose a one off or a monthly fee, All thooughts.
  5. Its on a industral estate in a building not a porta cabin and is in bishops waltham Is this to see if i paid attention or a real question
  6. Hi Everyone I was asked to report back as such on the intruder course i did last week Well my brain does hurt a bit and no thats not from a hit on the head but from ohms law I found the course very good from a point of view I am new to it all there was theory and calculations and class room based practical to get you to wire up what you have just learnt. Some home work to show where you would put sensors, control panel and keypad plus warning devices which you then had to write a proposal with each circuit details and location. The guy who took the course was very good answered questions as they come up also had a good sense of humor. Talked about the standards and why they are there i.e for acpo thats not acpo anymore but thats what everyone still calls them You get to wire up using double pole and FSL and program the panel. Commision the panel like doing all circuit checks, battery test, mains test, correct power at sensors and so on filling out the paper work correctly The week went fast but had a lot of fun Thanks Wayne
  7. Like this one maybe find cheaper https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Main_Index/Tools_Index/Cavity_Access/index.html
  8. They might have brought out a new one http://www.actmeters.co.uk/battery-testing/336l-3v-and-36v-lithium-battery-tester
  9. I am doing the classroom practical alarm course, The mains course I say your right the paper work side seemed abit light. but I still enjoyed the day
  10. Ok I will let you know I might learn something
  11. I did the mains compliance one and I am doing the alarm one in oct 12th. I found the mains course good. I can report back on how i find it. I do like to learn new things.
  12. I am doing the tavcom alarm course in oct and have done a course there before. I would go with al-yeti on that one.
  13. The keypad will display active zones and if it's just picked you up does tell you that zone is preventing arming to make you check you have not missed something what happens if with the zones for the pirs set to guard access Enter you code, do you want to arm ( Yes ) Display showing Zone preventing arming Pir? Then press yes again and leave. Does it set or not and what happens when you come back in does it (entry) and disarm and show no faults ?
  14. I agree photo Also you should have 2k2 with the door shut and 6k8 with the door open. have you made sure your not confussing your self now I would say without the magnet near the sensor you need the 6k8 reading so i am thinking you had the wiring correct. I would then move the magnet towards the sensor ( Near the top remember thats where the reed is )
  15. I have a shortage of skills but i am always willing to learn
  16. I am looking forward to seeing " It works "
  17. Course's are always good from lots off ways, Theory and then go and play with what you have just be shown making it work for real, There's always stuff to learn and new ways to do things. also you meet new people and share thoughts and ideas then when the brain hurts go to pub. Using a digital meter to check things are doing as they should makes it fast to fix a fault ( Does not work on customers they complain when hit with it)
  18. It can be done very easy with no resistors. With resistors you need to have the 2k2 one in line. I would get the rest working first and then sort the vibration out and add them in later after you have the expander
  19. I see someones changed mine now. thanks norman i think
  20. You would not know which one tripped the alarm which makes its hardder fault finding You would have to wire them in series
