  1. I don't know again it could just be a 'lost leader' which just to get into people homes,   Its only available on Domestic Clients.

I am not saying who I work for.   I just don't want put my company name out there as I only work for them and here as like a nosey into the industry.

Ok, i think i've worked it out anyway.

For your information though, if it is who i suspect, profit is not a word they are familiar with.

  2. I think our company gets lads who come to us for this.

I had a guy who was out of work and wanted to see if he wanted to do this type of work as he had been a sparky before.

I think he just wanted see how we install alarms and etc.

And here's me thinking you were part of Interflora.
  3. hi guys I'm new to the forum. I have installed a few visonic powermax and power G systems, i know some of you guys think they aren't very good from reading other topics but these are the only wireless alarms i have come across so far. Could you tell me what cores i would use to connect the auto dialler. There are 4 terminals on the back of the panel, 2 for line and 2 for set could you tell me what cores to use to connect to a phone line.

    Thanks in advance

    Jamie

Out of interest, what did it say in the manual?

  4. could you explain loopback? it sounds like a few problems ive been having.

and also.. do all you guys supply your own router when networking a dvr? a known, easy to set up router thats already configured before it leaves the office.

It allows you to, for example, access the router.

So, with, again, for example, these shitty technicolor routers, when supplied by BT (in my case). Out of the box the default IP address is 192.168.1.254

    This can be pinged.

We have to disable loopback. This then stops us 'pinging' the router.

It does not prevent us access to the router but by doing a simple ping test you could be mistaken for thinking the router is dead/not present.

  5. Oddly, we've struggled to commission an IP only WebWay this week over a TalkTalk line (residential).. Commission signal going out but nothing coming back in, ports opened and nothing still. Luckily it was the last straw for customer and now moving to BT.

Ronnie, worth noting that BT also use technicolour on some commercials.
  6. if these are as good as people say a nearly new unit doesn't worry me too much.

Just how far do you suggest cutting the cloth on alternative equipment.

Only you can make that call.

Personal preferences, potential usage, job vallues etc. Only you know.
