  1. Not really, the best tool for a survey is the one provided by the manufacturer themselves, although not sure how many do any more other than scanny. Suppose at worst you could do no more than place a panel demo case (Enforcer for example) vaguely in the final location at the property and take a TX to the furthest point, etc... The explorer IMHO is only of use for troubleshooting after a recurring but intermittent or persistent RF error or alert.
  2. If it's a 3 wire, why not? No different to using it to connect a 500w floodlight. Whether its done properly is another matter obv.
  3. If its the only place, I wouldnt worry too much
  4. Still better than an airing cupboard though...
  5. Well, Clik is a local co but not convinced its truely 'there'for fire and security use.
  6. I do. That's from Crimestoppers.
  7. You'll be fine with the right primer and enough sanding... Last time I went to an open day they were actively encouraging spraying their stuff, although that might have been one specific model...
  8. As above, cheapest quote = crappy cables thrown in - guaranteed. And crappy kit too.
  9. Binned an iWise pet a while ago, absolute junk. 18 months on and not a single known pet FA from Siemens e-line
  10. Give yourself a Quality Street from the tin
  11. Would you be happy using an 18+ year old fridge, microwave, computer, toaster, etc...? Would you keep a car for 18 years having never serviced it once? Is your central heating boiler 20 years old? I would say yes the battery is long dead, your neighbours must love you for that, but I would suggest a newer system for the most expensive asset you own.
  12. If you are able to convince yourself you will get 'peace of mind' at £200, I genuinely, and this is no joke, would not actually bother with any of the rubbish you'll get at that price point and spend £10 on a dummy bellbox. It will be just as effective at stopping a determined intruder as it is at warding off a casual one. But better yet it will never false alarm, never require servicing, batteries, or the hastle of telling friends and neighbours how to operate it.
  13. Quick question Tony - roughly what is your house worth - forget the contents, just the house?
  14. Even more experienced folk here will come back with tales of bricked panels, not perhaps so much on site but messing around on the bench. Texecom provide the updates foc and for the trade the cost of the flasher is negligable per panel.
  15. Depends - if you've had a few power cuts (or more likely, power turned off all day for building work etc...) then the battery will last nowhere near as long if completely discharged.
  16. Yes, it's a bit like these companies that offer fullbody CT scans with no preexisting symptoms. Who's to say you won't see the same interference on another site that never has and never will have issues?
