  1. I think he was told on the lecy forum after a marathon post about his old equipment just to bin it and put in a £45 G4.
  2. Anyone know much about them? Are they any good? It's a wireless runner blue series but looking under distribution (on the web) none in the uk! Im looking for a wired keypad for it (if they accept one?)
  3. Not without changing to fibre.
  4. As far as I'm aware (have been told from people above) plastic is out and will not be making an appearance. I also asked about the use of plastic plugs with the escape route fixings and this is fine.
  5. and what's the other one? metal, fire enclosure and ?
  6. As long as it's safe for continued services then fine, but all additions, alterations and new works must conform to current BS7671 so to avoid having lots of separate boxed with RCD'S in is sometimes cheaper and quicker to change CU to a new one. + they should be safer (& metal from 1st jan 2016)
  7. Yes the older consumer units with fuse wire are fine but the problem is everything within especially a domestic property has to have RCD protection nowadays unless you go out of your way to eliminate the requirements for it. Data, you should not realy use T+E on a catenary wire system or outside as it has no UV protection.
  8. It would be if the items were in the zones shown in the doc P. Remember its not the room its the zones. So a room containing a bath/shower is not notifiable but if you do any work within the zones around the bath/shower they are. e.g. So if you install a mirror light on the bathroom wall from an existing circuit and no cabling or accessories are in or go through the zones then it's not notifiable. People including most sparks think because its a bathroom its notifiable which is not the case. Op. you also need to brush up on your IP knowledge with regards zones.
  9. It's only notifiable within the zones (not the room) shown in the approved doc P. As your room is only a toilet and wash basin then crack on and use common sense with placement.
  10. If you look down his page, the blue cat5e clipped on the front of someone's house (could be his) made me laugh, blends in very well.
  11. You should have checked what the manufacture of the cable and staple have to say first.
  12. Not sure i have read that right but that is what indemnity is for when you advise/design something wrong whether you install or not.
  13. Insurance is tailored to you and your needs. You will find most (If not all) of the mainstream ones will not insure for alarm installers as I found out. The SSAIB and i'm sure NSI will to, can give you some numbers to ring around (SSAIB gave me my current insures number BucklandHarvester) Mat
  14. The ver in downloads is dog old. If you ring your rep they should be able to sort you out
  15. I have just this evening upgraded my desktop to win10 from 8.1 with rss installed on it and it still all works fine.
  16. Hi Wesl For the Galaxy RSS software you will need to speak to your regional rep from Honeywell. Mat
  17. What system are you referring to as not all wireless systems are 2-way.
  18. 2-way- (Teacher calls register and pupil responds) 1-way- (Teacher says nothing and would have to wait until pupil says they are present)
  19. No as the LED are off until put into walk test. on tex
  20. I'm referring to the Texecom ones here, as Pyronix ones are on all the time. ? Texecom and Pyronix (& prob Honeywell) are two way as the panel requests information from the detectors (signal, battery info) and then sends it back when you or I request at any time. If it was 1-way then you/I would have to wait until it polls the information.
  21. But detector needs to receive message from panel to turn on LED's so receives from panel and then sends to panel 2-way.
  22. ?? Box 3 in the instructions it shows you where to make the mounting holes
  23. IP cams sprayed black
